Thread: Storage & Dopp Kit Combo.

So the SWMBO and I went to Harbor Freight to at least look at the wood tool box a few of the others here have picked up for bout $80.

But when we hit that section, she pointed out something a little more contemporary. "The wood one looks more like a jewelry box. That one is more manly! Plus, the wood doesn't go with anything else in the bathroom."



Once I open it, it's like the angels sang, it's like it was made for straights! Rugged, customizable, lockable, padded, and already has slots for straights! $30 later, I can't tell which one of us is more stoked: the penny-pinching SWMBO, or me!

Not only is it compact & convenient, organized storage for my shaving stuff; it's already packed & ready to go when I go visit my family roughly a 6hr drive away :-).

I added a couple shaving related things for size reference. Also, the foam in the bottom is scored/perforated to customize & as well as completely removable.

Looks like it will work really well. Good score!

And now, the waiting game begins. I'll just put a couple razors in the slots, the new Dovo and 2 I got for learning restoration, and just wait for her OCD to kick in and say "So when are you gonna do something about those empty slots?"

Looks like a great idea. Can't wait to see some photos of it all loaded up.

Drats! I've been had! It gave me no option to "cover my tracks" and delete that post.

Here's how it looks all loaded up! It's just a first draft of a layout, but I think it will work. Just about everything has a home, and is snug. Threw in some Ziploc bags for when travel happens. And I imagine the soap and sponge will be kept on top of the closed case between shaves, due to moisture... which I have also planned for .







Grrr! Blasted forum only seems to have one allowable, non-selectable picture orientation! Maybe it's cause I'm on my Galaxy phone.

A small paddle or a loom strop might be what you need. Or, since you're talking about driving and not air travel, just pre strop your blades and use each one once. You have enough room there for a 2 week vacation... And the perfect excuse: "I need 3 more straights, you said a week at your sister's, and the case you got me has no room for a strop..."

My SRD 3" black latigo don't quite fit. It came real close when I laid it diagonally across the lid, that's if there were no hardware on it... but yes, a small paddle strop might fit in the case. I will go with my original plan of packing it in the suitcase with all the clothes. The suitcase is larger anyway. Simple solution .
