New Razor Storage Option: Sack-ups
While considering all the various options for razor storage, I came across a product called Sack-Ups. They produce cloth rolls for knives and other cases for tools, firearms, and golf clubs. Their products are treated with silicone as a rust inhibitor. I have used their products for firearms and have always been very satisfied. I e-mailed them to ask whether their knife rolls would hold straight razors. I received a call this morning from a product representative, so they seem to offer great, personalized customer service. They said their current offerings for knives would not be long enough for straight razors, but they are working on a 7-roll with long, narrow pockets for straight razors. I was told they would have it on the market in about a month.
I have looked at similar products made of leather. My hang-up with the leather offerings is the price and concerns about rust. For those of us who have WAY too many razors, the leather rolls can be a bit cost-prohibitive. Additionally, while I have never heard complaints of razors rusting in leather, I have seen pistols rust while being stored in leather holsters. Sack-ups offer rust protection, so that concern would be somewhat minimized. Additionally, if the cost of their razor roll is similar to their other products, this should be a much more cost-effective option than leather rolls or wood cases.
I will be watching for their straight razor roll to hit the market. I have a feeling it will be a top-seller for straight razor collectors.
Here is a link to their website. You can check out their knife rolls to get an idea of what the razor roll will probably look like.
