Default Vintage Travel Shaving Set. ...opinions?

This was gifted to me a couple years ago by a former professor of mine. Evidently she picked it up in a "junk/antique store" during a trip to London back in the '70's as a gift to her brother. He died in the 80's and she wound up back with it until she heard I shaved old school and she gave it to me. Figured I'd appreciate it, and I do!! Just wish I knew a bit more about it.

The brush has "Ever Rite, Made in U.S., Sterile" stamped on it, but other than that no markings anywhere.

From the little I've been able to find about these, I think there was supposed to be a small porcelain bowl to go with it too. Other than that I'm out of knowledge.

Any additional info any of you have would be appreciated. Also, do you think this is something I might want to have restored, or left in "as is" condition?

The table-platform part would restore nicely. The brush I'm afraid is toast.

They are fairly common at on line auctions. That said; they can be cleaned up and used for the stated purpose. They normally had a rimmed dish of glass or plastic inside and resting on the ring to assure that no moisture got into the layers of the top and bottom.
If you can find a dish that size, you are home free!
Have fun, they are interesting items.

PS try spraying the brush with scrubbing bubble and soaking it in vinegar a few times. The surface looks mildewed. I cannot tell if it is painted wood or plastic. If the brush is then supple and the handle completely clean and hard surfaced, it may be useable. If the plastic cleans to a smooth hard surface and the brush is toast, it can be re-knotted. Some of the plastics deteriorated badly.
