Movember 2022
Lads and hairy lasses, tis near on the season of the scruff, the handlebar, the drive to help all those that can, could, or want to grow hair.
https://youtu.be/watch?v=cNE0JpflZWQ
As in years passed members are invited to donate shave, and man related items up for auction. Auctions will be limited to the month of November, Movember, and each will be described by the donor with respect to duration of auction.
Fund transfer, shipping etc, also worked out on an item by item basis.
Stay tuned to this thread for information and items as the month approaches.
As always,, donate, and bid with your hearts, and share your experiences, amongst friends. Both virtual and in reality..
Cheers.
-
As usual, I will offer the Razorfeld Strop Sock for those in a mood to spruce up their shaving den. I will state at this early date that I might not be offering these in future years as I will attain my 90th year come January and am finally looking at slowing down (but not stopping) my activities. Shave on!:chapeau
-
Richard, the fact you can still thread a needle at 90, something I could not master at 15, let alone wield it so artfully..
We should all be so lucky.
And I thank you for the offer again this season!
:beer1:
-
I will be getting together what has been left in my possession from the Donations of the Giveaway that we used to have monthly. I will make groups of items and post them up when the month gets going so stay tuned.
And thanks to Mike for keeping this "Raising funds for Movember" Going. Remember it's not about what something is worth, but how much you can bid to help someone in need.
We have lost good members in the past that might have been helped with more awareness of Men's Health. So let's try to do what we can to continue what we have done in previous years. And remember the ones we have lost.
-
Good on ya Jerry.
Will make for a more spirited month!
Hopefully a mod can put a front page reference to the thread for the month as well.
Need to get the word out to our Mo bro’s.
-
I have been donating some blades and scales in the past.
I have an idea to offer-up some nice things. Might still do some projects/parts as well.
The shipping across the pond has gotten silly expensive so I figure I will ask for Paypal F&F to me separately to cover actual ship price outside of Conus.
We need to start advertising this thing right now. A spot on the front page running now thru the end of Nov is really paramount.
Whomever is in charge of the articles there should step up and make a splash for this!! :deal:
TBH, I have considered listing on Ebay and earmarking the whole sum to Movember.
If the forum itself cannot promote it fast, it will be down to just a few bidders.
I will consider my donations as November 1st arrives.
-
Would be nice to spread the word even to the fbook group as well. Just to have them pop back in for the month.
A lot of folks left during the Covid debates. Would be nice if they got over things enough to join in again.
:tu
-
Yes! Let's give and give more and bid and bid more. Harass one another for a month! Talk some trash!
It's FUN! :rofl2:
-
It IS fun and if last year is any indication, there’s some fine stuff to be had. Aside from the great feeling of supporting a worthy cause, I know I’m extremely happy with my winnings from last time.
Can’t wait for the games to begin.
-
I got a hankerin for some scales or bone/wood at least.
I got some razors that would nice a bit dressed up for Movember.
-
I shaved this morning with a beautiful Bruno/Snail forge blade that I won last year!
-
I need to go thru my stuff, really looking to go for the minimalist approach. I only really use 2-3 razors, one used 80% of the time and I have some of the finest brushes and strops known to mankind, I only use one now. Thinking of the future when I may be alone and will then travel most of my time so having all this gear is a waste, and like the last few years it gives me joy to give it away. Spent a lot of money on this stuff to get the best. So it makes good donations, let me see what I got for this year
-
Mike,
Great stuff!
Thanks for putting this up.
I can throw in a GB razor for this.
Yes really.
Just let me know how.
Do I simply put it in the BST section an later wire you the money?
Let me know and I’ll do as you say.
-
!! That will garner some attention Sashimi!!
And is entirely gracious of yourself, and tc, and all those of us still engaged in this site to be involved enough to take part in.
As far as the auctions, what we did in years passed is folks post up their items with various end of auction times, so everything doesn’t end on the same day, on individual threads in this subsection.
Items authors dictate terms on the post and the highest bid by the established end date and time prevails.
The winners then make their donations to an active Movember member, such as my addy below, or the one in my signature:
https://movember.com/m/michaelbolton65?mc=1
Can all be done online.
Amount raised last year: $3,273
I’ve recreated the team SRP NorthAmerica again as in the last couple seasons
And I don’t mind being the validation process to let folks know when the funds are deposited, as in previous years.
Shipping is a variable that most of us either say tbd, or included with the prize and is at the discretion of the donator in each case.
Here’s to another banner month of swag, brags, and besting each other.
It’s a lot of fun, and all helps the causes that The Movember foundation invest in.

Do we have a dedicated thread for 2022 Movember auctions? Things are popping up here and Jerry has titled another thread giveaway auctions. Seems a single thread for all 2022 auctions with an intro might make things more visible and easy to find.
Or is it just me?
-
Yes, a sub-forum is whats needed for all items like the past, but one hasnt been set up yet.
-
Having last years sub’d down would make the new year clearer for sure, but as far as this year, as long as folks lead with Movember 2022 in their auction title, they should stay at the top of the thread still, like in previous years.
I’m not a mod so can’t amend the threads personally.
Things at home have settled and I’ll be adding to the thread this weekend.
Cheers gents.
-
So will this be the thread to post in?
-
Well no, the Movember auction thread will be the hub, one level up, with each auction item being an individual thread within this page.
Title should be Movember 2022 ‘item description’ much like Jerry already did, so they will stay at the top of the page in order they are created.
Content includes shipping terms and end date of auction, ideally cut off on or before the 29th of November so things get wrapped up within the month.
That worked in the past and should work again..
That way the 21 season can be sub threaded, and then the 22 season can be as well.
Richard added his socks to this actual thread, but it should have been created one level up in the Movember sub thread, not this actual sub sub thread.
Hope that makes sense gents?
Let me know.
Cheers.
-
I have pulled the strop socks posting into a separate thread titled Movember Strop Socks. It is in the Movember Auctions section. Waiting for the fashion conscious to want to covert their strops to start the bidding.
-
...............
-
Thanks for creating its own thread Richard, and again, thanks for making new Sox this year.
I’ve asked RD to archive last years auction items to a 2021 sub and have also posted on the Facebook group a link to the Mo auction thread so maybe we will get increased traffic.
Just a reminder to make your subject line :
Movember 2022,,,,(item description). That way things will align alphabetically in the thread.
Payment to a bond fide Movember acct keeps things easy to track at the remittance stage and I will always update the group and auction owners as things flow, if my acct is used.
Hopefully, once Dave tidies up previous entries the thread gets clearer.
Stay tuned, and thanks gents. Good questions and interest from the core.
:tu
-
Thanks Dave for the clean up in aisle 6 as it were.
https://sharprazorpalace.com/movember-auctions/
Is where to place your individual auction threads, as described.
Also the above link is the one you want to share to your other sites, if they let you as it will take folks right to the good stuff.
Cheers, and bon chance’
-
First auction closed and received Roy!
Thanks for the donation and enjoy your strop sock in dust free health!
Cheers gents. Almost mid point in the month and lots of good swag to be had!
-
Shame I can't get in it this year....waaay too strapped.
It'd been nice to have them anchor's to hold me down. :tu
Some good stuff guys, hope y'all fare well.
Maybe next year.
-
Same here, outback. Low dough and property tax bills are coming in.
It's a travesty when they think raising interest rates will help the economy. It devalues property and kills the housing market.
Then they increase the value for taxation. It's about out of control.
A few lottery tickets here and there. Yeah! :rofl2:
-
Our problem is not enough houses for how many people need one up here these days.
Didn’t invest in the infrastructure over the last two decades to account for the population boom from immigration and now, bidding wars for houses unseen.
Nuts.
All we can do is the best we can gents.
For each other and our families and friends..
Every day a little bit more, or less, depending on opportunities..
I see a few new names getting in on the action this season. That’s always welcome too.
Cheers.
-
I've been more or less absent for a while, mainly due to work and a renovation project, and totally missed this.
Can I still put something up?
-
I'd say yes. There are still seven days left of this month. I would think an item from you would create a flurry of bids quickly. I think a razor for one and maybe a second of a knife would gather interest. I know I enjoy, daily, a small knife of yours that is in daily use. It has kept its edge these several years.:chapeau
-
I’d agree with Richard. There is still a week to go and your work is well received by the core crew here for sure.
Appreciate the consideration B.
:tu
-
Thx. on the assumption it would be OK I posted a damascus razor.
Starting bid is whatever you want.

Great month, with great swag, participation, and results gentlemen.
Smaller draw, with fewer members, but exceeded last years results.
Makes a man proud to grow hair it does!!!
Attachment 345228
I hope you all receive and enjoy your items timely, and I really appreciate the involvement gents.
Thanks to all the donors for their time, energies invested, and items.
The bidders for investing in the game, and the causes supported by the Mo foundation.
Was another successful fund raising month.
You should all be proud of the collective results.
Well done team.

After a few last day bumps! Even nicer results.
Attachment 345241
Freakin great job gents.
-
Hat's off to Shaun Mushynsky. I see he is quite the generous member. No surprise!
Well-Done! :bow
Thanks to the Rezdog!
-
Yes indeed, Shaun was most active member on the receiving end again this Movember. Your philanthropy is greatly appreciated this year Rez!
As was everyone else’s that took part.
I tried to bridge the auction between Facebook, and the forum this year but they did not merge as hoped.
The Facebook link remained stand alone, but if I manually add the donations we end up around $3800 now from both drives.
Almost a grand CDN more than last year raised!
Again, well done gentlemen.
:chapeau
-
Thx for organizing it all!
-
Thanks for organizing this Mike!
To all three winners of my auctions: please bear with me.
I seem to have to pre-announce my shipments digitally and I’m a pretty analog guy, so let me assimilate this new way and I will try to get your razors to you as fast as I can.
All are packed and ready to go..
-
I put away a small amount every two weeks with the intent of giving it away near the end of the year. It all goes to support people and charities. I’m glad of the fine folks who organized all that goes on here and the very generous donors who put great items up for a great cause. I know a lot of people have their plates full and still find the time to set it up and rally the supporters. I see you and recognize your efforts.
-
I recieved my package from Jerry today and was happy with the contents!
One minor thing I was disapointed in though is that after reading the newspaper that was used for filler it didn't contain the crossword puzzle. :rofl2:
Tim
-
Mine arrived Saturday. It also did not contain a crossword. I guess Jerry likes the crosswords.
