Coffee, black. Soft boiled egg with a touch of salt.
Wheat, oats and rye bread with butter and
mackerel in tomato sauce, cod caviar, spiced herring.
Another soft boiled egg and some more coffee.
Long, slow and peaceful Sunday breakfast. A good start of the day.
Tamago kake gohan (rice with raw egg) has always been a favorite breakfast of mine since the late 70's while I was stationed in Okinawa and Japan.
I will not post a photo as most people I know are revulsed at the thought of eating an egg raw.
There ain't many weak stomachs around here my friend post away. Tc

While the rice cooks, season your eggs. I like soy sauce.

Wouldn't that cook the eggs then?
That,s the idea. Watch and enjoy. Your immediate answer is towards the end of the episode but do watch in entirety .

Thank you, Nightblade!
There are as many ways of serving TKG as there are ways of cooking an egg. When I was first introduced to this dish, it was served with
a hard fried egg (sorry, I have never cared for hard fried eggs). My first time making this dish, I dropped the raw egg on top of the cooking
rice in the last 3 to 5 minutes of the cooking time. I still make TKG this way for people who are nervous about raw eggs. As for myself, I am a
fan of the wonderful flavor of the egg and prefer TKG made with raw eggs.
I might also add,I'm still learning each day and their are a lot of things Asian that make more sense to me than Western sometimes. As long as it's not insectoid or family pet in nature,I'll generally eat it lol.
I remember the street vendors and the embracing odors of the market very well. I once ordered a couple of skewers of what I thought
was momo yakitori (chicken thigh) and some hatsu yakitori (chicken hearts) only to find out later that it was more feline in nature. When
you're three sheets to the wind, it's all good, hahaha!
Not trying to beat a dead horse here but Panama60 has brought up a fascinating dish so I wanted more awareness of it. Enjoy !

Soppressata and smoked Gouda on a bagel. I feel like I'm going to need the combo of carbs and fat to fuel me through waiting in line at the polls today.

lasagna for dinner tonight.
I didn't need any nourishment to vote today! At about 15:45 I pulled up front of the polling place and in around 10 minutes {I didn't time it and that is what I would guess on the long side} I was on my way again.

I almost wrote in the president part NONE OF THE ABOVE! :rofl2:
P.S. I see now that this is the breakfast thread. If anyone wants to move it or is offended sorry. Probably the same guys at both threads....:o
I've prepared homemade lasagna for breakfast before, and it is the bee's knees.
What did you use for cheese inside the lasagna. I typically alternate ricotta, parmiggiano, and mozzarella. When the girls make it, it's cheddar, mozzarella, and sometimes cottage cheese.
Looks delicious.
I figured so but my wife made it and she says mozzarella only. Lots of venison. I don't know the rest of the recipe and I doubt that she does. Whatever was handy and sounded good at the moment.
There is a lot left over for breakfast and lunch tomorrow. In the picture you can see the edge of another pan to the left. That got mostly eaten tonight and the main one pictured is leftovers.
I remember stumbling down the streets of Okinawa in the wee hours of the night. Yakitori was my go to. Then my friends girlfriend, an Okinawa native, said it's more likely to be bat meat than chicken. Either way it was amazing, cooked right in front of you on the street. I also miss coco ichibanya. Best curry I've ever had!
Well..........it was some tasty bat meat then and I would do it again, in a heart beat!
Whoa dude...not sure if it's the same but I get Japanese curry from the Japanese local grocery and I always keep at least three boxes on the pantry shelf. That stuff is like crack ! Mmmmmmmmmm ! When I make it I like to use the Purple sweet potato that I also get at the market. Great combo with the slightly sweet and the hot curry Mmmmmm !!
My daughter came home to visit for a few days and my wife asked her what she wanted to eat. One of them was pork chops and dumplings. There wasn't enough time options to have them for dinner so we had them for breakfast this morning!
A little pastry I made yesterday and a cafe latte courtesy of my new Gaggia and Baratza grinder.

Ooooh me like um pork steaks!!
Better than chops, any day.
Totally agree ! You can't even get a chop like the old days anymore...everything is too lean. Bring on the fat and fry it crisp n brown I say ! :)
My mother served pork chops and cranberries this morning for breakfast.:tu
When I left I gave her a big hug and thanked her for being my mother!
