So I don't know about you fellas, but...... I love breakfast !!! It's my most favorite meal of the day, bar none. I enjoy cookin and I enjoy cookin dinner but breakfast is the thing that joyfully raises me from my cozy bed to face the trials of life. I like my bacon and eggs, but bring on the hotcakes, the fried chicken n waffles, the sausages and ham and the exotic stuff too. Smoked fish, porridges, fruits, jams of all sorts, breadstuffs of varying degrees. Hot Biscuits and scones. The red eye or sausage gravy. Grits n taters abound. kedgerees and curries, soups and even puddings of all sorts. And let's not forget the Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and juices of every kind MMmmmmm !! Breakfast can't be beat. They say there are a 100 ways to cook an egg. That's a good start for breakfast. Hobbits had second breakfast bless'em. Every ethnicity has breakfast and I can't imagine life without it...I would rather be dead. So....ding, ding, ding !! The breakfast car is nooooow open !!......Show us what you had for breakfast!!!....:chapeau

I'm with you, I love breakfast. Alas, a bowl of Honey-nut Cheerios this morning is not photo worthy.

Here was mine today this fine day.. Scrambled eggs,German rye toast with some schmaltz(chicken fat) flavored with cumin,rosemary n garlic from last nights roast chicken, fresh fruit, Cucumber salad with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and fresh dill, and hot black tea. You know, there must have been something going on in the Oxford region during that time - both Tolkein (Hobbits) and C.S. Lewis (Narnia) fixate on breakfasts in their books. Maybe they wrote those bits when they were hungry?

Anyway, I too agree that breakfast is great! I like museli with fruit most mornings, porridge in winter, the occasional bacon and eggs.

My most favourite thing (and I think this stems from when I was a child) is to order a cooked breakfast the night before from the breakfast checkbox slip in motels. There's something about sitting on the bed and contemplating tomorrow's breakfast - what to have, when to have it arrive - that is a very joyful thing for me. And then the excitement of it arriving under a cheap plastic cloche with copious condensation on the interior.... bliss! :)

Well I just found this thread and as we only eat Breakfast on sundays I will participate with pics down the road.
BUT last sundays was a killer,Fresh small catfish (sacto river) rolled in tempura batter, fried in bacon grease,home made bacon cut 3/8 thick.
Hominy fried in bacon grease,Fresh caught (american river) shad roe, fried in bacon grease,Homemade sourdough and homemade mater juice.
Simple stuff for simple people:)

You guys all seen pop tarts before, no sense in taking a picture of them, they haven't changed much.

Cloche is my new word for the day!

My workday breakfasts usually comes under a cheap plastic cloche during first break at 9 am. I get along with the kitchen staff and they trust me to tell them at the checkout line what is hidden under the condensation.:)

BREAKFAST!! I hate breakfast... Heck, I hate mornings lol!! :) :) I am soooo jealous of you morning people!! It's almost as though you enjoy getting things done :)!

Alas, 6 years of lethargy, a poor diet when I did eat, and an aging body have seen my doctor threaten me with a lifetime of taking drugs if I don't get my metabolism started first thing in the morning, and reducing my astronomical cholesterol levels! Hence I am now eating breakfast every day for the first time in my life since boarding school where I was forced to eat breakfast.

It's the same thing every morning...

I used to eat 2 breakfast meals a day. Up @ 3 and into the big rig. Donuts and coffee for the first 15 miles. Depending on where I went and the time it took to get there. If I had time to sit down in a restaurant I would get bacon or sausage and eggs with toast. If not,a breakfast burrito or bacon and egg sandwich off the hot truck. 9:00 break would be what ever I didn't have @ 6:30. If I ate like that now I would weight 900 pounds. A lot to be said for hard work.

Well now, let me clarify....I hate mornings. That is to say I hate getting up at the buttcrack of dawn and getting all smiley n stuff. In fact, I think the bluebird of happiness in the morning would taste great deep fried and sittin on top a stack O waffles with butter n syrup...mmm tasty !! Sunrises are pretty cool...but then it's back to the sack fer me. I am a vampire partially after all ha ha. However, when I do arise.....Breeeeakfaaaaast(angels and harps) .

I like that early dawn window where the birds are just startin to chirp up but everything is still deserted. But once the daywalkers come out it's back to the crypt fer me .

I tell ya jimbo, they must've....but oh what pictures they painted with those thoughts. I would kill to have a pantry like ol Bilbo.........minus those ravenous dwarves heh. I am with you on the planning of breakfast. I do that sometimes the night before, where I think about what I'm going to cook up. The anticipation of it all mmmmmm now ya done got me thinkin ha ha !:D

Now I love me some breakfast. In fact, I've been known to eat breakfast for dinner some times but during the week I don't normally bother with it. This is my standard breakfast Monday-Friday. Yeah, I'm a health fiend :)

Is that good with butter n syrup ?

hobbits aren't the only ones to enjoy a second or even third breakfast ( though after the first it isnt really break fast), when i lived in cirencester (not far from oxford) i would often have multiple breakfasts on a sunday after a big saturday, usually toast or something to start then a goodly pause while smoking etc was done then a fry up or pancakes, then a pause for games then maybe something else or just down to a country pub for a good real ale and lunch.
more recently i used to do multiple breakfasts when i got up with my daughter really early. her favourite toast topping was vegemite (marmite), peanut butter and honey. we just called it mixed together. FYI it is horrible in my opinion but maybe when i was 4 i might have liked it.

Wow...........I love marmite..but not with peanut butter and honey ??? Ohhh I'm havin marmite toast with some eggs this morning now...I can feel it !

I am fairly sure you aren't 4. If you were you might think it was tasty. A bit of really vintage cheddar melted would be good with your breakky, you know the nutty tasting stuff that is a bit crunchy. Hang on that sounds like peanut butter, but I definately am talking about cheddar.

A nice German baby swiss could be nice or mmmmm maybe a stilton. Ha I'm dreaming now. No cheese.....but....I have some schmaltz in the fridge that might pair up...hmmmmm. Off to beddy I am now with visions of heartburn in my head ha ha.

Hey Nightblade - you know those vampire movies where the vampire commits suicide or is being murdered by being outside when the sun comes up? You know that look of awe they portray as they see the sun for the first time since becoming a vampire some 1000 or whatever years ago?

When I get off the plane, I land around 11am.

Pancakes, much tastier than they look. Mmmmm pancakes

My typical breakfast is oatmeal with aprox. 43 blueberrys (the most perfect food in the world-look it up) and a large glass of orange juice. On rare occasions medium rare steak, eggs over easy, hash browns with fried onions and rasin toast. If i'm on vacation I may splurge and buy a box of really bad cereal like cap'n crunch. Makes my teeth dance just thinking about it.

Arguably the worst breakfasts i have ever had was at a friends house and his mother is a very good cook. I went to take a drink of milk and it was orange juice. I grew up on a dairy farm and so we drank milk. I enjoy both the flavors but I can't describe in words my reaction of expecting milk and getting the orange juice instead!

Had similar food experiences, really ruins it, even if its something you like

Three eggs scrambled, between a pair of pancakes. With hot sauce (green Tabasco and chipotle Tabasco both work great). Sandwich style.

Wish we could see all the breakfast we're readin about here hmmm:w
