Not me mate! I cut my hair nice and short! Your dog isn't one 'o' them Hippies I hope. :)
Mick
You rascal! Ha. I knew it. Now i have to show you my legos sharp as a needle for calling my dog a hippie!

Don't be pickin on doggie now.......... Cute little woofer !
Tomi....what is doggies name anyway ?? May I ask?
The one in the pic is Aura. French Briard. My wife keeps practising with this hippie-like creature in the volunteer s/r service. Other two are Lola and Tartu. The one being too young for serious practice yet and the other is just too stupid, as seen here.
Not much to do with breakfast though.
Love those doggies even the not too trainable one. Sorry about your loss with the older one. Good woofers !!!
Hey Sailor,
Don't ya just love it when someone makes a blanket statement about a whole group? Or, in this case, a whole breed? I couldn't help but notice the, "they are easily trained" comment.
They are fearless and never timid. Briards have initiative as working dogs. They are highly intelligent and have a very good memory; therefore, they are easily trained. They are faithful and gentle to their families and they have the enthusiastic desire to please their masters.

Meanwhile, just finished some sausage n eggs with some fresh cut Santa clause melon. It's kinda like green melon...good stuff.:)
This mornings breakfast (even if it already past dinner time here now). Left over from the previous night was a slow cooked (took all bloody day) stew, so I had that cold with a piece of soy and linseed bread and a slice of chedder cheese under a fried egg.

What a cute little feller....is that maybe curry I see on that egg ?
Hell No! I just over cooked it a bit on that side when I tripped over the dog and banged me head on the fridge. :p
Mick
You sound a little dangerous in the kitchen.......
Thanks. Some are easier to train than others and then there's these 'happy but not so smart' sometimes (though there have been days that i've felt the same).
But seriously speaking dogs, being 'just' dogs, are capable of so many tasks that it's almost unbeliavable. Of course it takes a lot of work and time. Ours maybe wouldn't never score in dog beauty shows but the one (and many before) have been pretty good in tracking and s/r services. Sort of a thing of my wife.
Authorities use more and more volunteer services like this these days. Unfortunately it's not so uncommon here that people get lost in forests, for a reason or another. Berry pickers, senior citizen who suddendly decide a traditional way to die in privacy and silence of the forests. Police and military are searching for the vital time (24-48 hrs) and then they give the task to volunteers.
Oh by the way Steph, I dropped a little something into the post office today for you. Don't know if it will get to you before the day though.
Mick
The something may be on it's way but I think I got the message already. Thanks mate !:tu
Your welcome mate.
Mick
Okay guys ........ let's see those eggs, pancakes etc. ... I know you guys are mad cooks in the kitchen, don't be shy. Brotchen, fish, porridge, cakes, juice, tea and coffee, Taters and scones c'mon...step up to the plate.:beer1:
Ok this is my favourite brekkie in camp, 3 pancakes, mixed berries, chocolate and vanilla ice cream, it used to get some interesting looks.
I am on a diet now so its poached eggs and Tabasco on rice cakes.

Ice cream for breakfast....makes me giddy !!:D
Yes, stew is definately one of the ugly ducklings of the food world, not photogenic, but very fine food indeed, I think it falls into the "nurtures.the soul" category, a good stew will make you feel better.
All right so the stew wasn't pretty...Well, this mornings breakfast will hopefully look a little prettier. Today was rolled oats, soaked overnight with charcoal filtered rainwater and just prior to eating I added a good serving of Vanilla yogurt and halved strawberries...Or strawberry berries according to my youngest who was (out of shot) at the table eating her weet-bix. I fear the placemat might prove to be the more interesting about this mornings breakfast however, and I suppose I could always provide a shot of that by itself, though I won't be eating it anytime soon. ;)

Your place mat got me wondering how rolled oat made using Aussie Beer and garnished with some Hops would taste?
I tried to look up a recipe using beer to make oatmeal but could only find recipes for Oatmeal Stout. Maybe my idea is an original? :)
It is probably just Google limiting me to what they think I want to look at. :(
I suppose I will have to try it now that I brought it up...
The week is young. Don't hold your breath. No beer for breakfast on a workday!
This brings to mind a recipe I always thought would be cool to try but haven't had the chance. Northern Pike in a beer can. I heard this years ago and I am sure they then used steel beer cans.
While fishing in your ice shack catch a northern that is the diameter of a beer can. Cut the top off the beer can. Just gut , don't skin the northern and cut it into lengths of the cans. { I forgot to say to insert the cut of northern into the can!:(} Place the can on top of your wood stove and cook until done. The skin will stick to the can so just shake out the meat in the center on to your plate!
The problem with posting this to the breakfast thread is the northerns don't bite in the dark so the earliest your breakfast would be ready is 10 am!
Which is why Kippers and smoked whitfish was invented.
Interestingly or 'interestingly' we have a course that looks almost the same. It's called mämmi and it's quite popular as dessert. Enjoyed with cream or milk.
I haven't had any since i was 5 yo or so, but those who have this weird habit of putting these kind of things into their mouth say it's very good. Tastes like beer with sugar.
Sounds pretty tasty looks like fudge kinda..Mämmi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
