Well my order of Silver Needle came in all the way from China... AWESOME...
The pouch aroma smells of Alfalfa very natural and pleasent... I have to say that this ranks right there with Pue~rh for a natural flavor...
The longer you let it brew the better it is... This picture is about 5-7 minutes in... At 10 it was great!
I had to get my "alfalfa" fix. Some Pu Erh in the portable tea set. I'm finally getting the amount and steeping time down, and the result is, I'm really starting to like this stuff! The photograph is the box turned around to see the top with the handle and locks. This was the second steep, around thirty and a few seconds. When I say alfalfa, it's in a good way! I was using too much tea and it brought a dirt taste. I should add that I did a ten second "rinse" steep first. Once I get this dialed in, maybe I'll try some other types, this is the ripe Pu Erh.
PS, my daughter liked it too, but not as much as the milk oolong. donv

I love the stuff. It's very similar in flavour to the tea(s) that I knew as a kid. Although that could have a lot to do with the way the tea I grew up with was made i.e Over a fire. Either open or a wood burning stove depending on where we were on the Station (Ranch) at the time.
MARE...MARE...MA...MARE CRISH...MARE CRISHMUSH YA BARSHT...YA BARSHTUD! :p

No Steph, the tea was whatever could be had from town either delivered (mail order style) or bought on the odd foray into town for other things. I don't recall what exactly the tea was, but I think it was just something in the 'Bushells' brand. Maybe Blue label. I'll have to get some again to refresh my memory. Haven't bought it in years.
My reference to fire was there to mean the smokey flavour of the tea I had as a kid was most likely just due to that very same fire. Russian Caravan has that same taste to it without the need to have ash and cinders dropping into the billy during the brewing process. Sorry for the confusion mate.

Yeah no worries...your saying the campfire permeated into your tea I believe. I'm a little slow sometimes.:)
Exactly. And quite concise you are too :).
