Tea anyone ??!!

Nice one Bela, that looks absolutely lovely, and that teapot looks great.

Today I could not resist testing my new puerh. I decided to go with the 1999 cake today, as I've really been looking forward to it.

The first 3 steepings, in order:

First steeping:
Reddish brown in the cup. Aroma: fresh earthy forest floral with a hint of mushrooms is what comes to me, very pleasant. Taste; Fullbodied, suave, many-layered fresh forest flavors, slightly astringent but absolutely no bitterness, and a lingering, slightly sweet, mouth-watering aftertaste. Very pleasant and soothing drink, exellent thirst quencher.

Second steeping: Darker in color, more fragrant and above all, more flavor. All in all a more potent steeping. The tealeaves are hydrated from the first steeping and all but the largest of lumps have broken up. The tea is now freely relelasing flavor and fragrance.

Third steeping: Like the second, I could not pick up any distinct differences.

All in all a lovely pu'erh, I am very happy with this tea.

I have another pot of the saemidori on the go right now and, to add to my original post, I think it's got some very fruity notes. The second steep tasted almost like watermelon!

Came in from the sleet and restored body temperature with some Dayi "Yun ding" (Clouds) Ripe pu erh from 2010.
Today I finally realized what the underlying scent from pu erh is, it's horse stable. At least that's my association, and it is a very positive one for me.
Not the closed up pungent ammonia stench but a nice mix of horse, saw dust and a wee bit of manure. Sounds crazy when it is written down like this but I hope you understand what I mean :)

Wow! You guys do not fool around with your tea! I'm just boiling some water, throw it over a teaspoon of English breakfast, steep for a minute, then sugar, milk and down the hatch! I bet this is another obsession that can get way out of hand.

Wait...the teacake is from 1999? Is that a brand or a 14 year old tea cake?

A 14 year old tea cake. Pu erh cakes and bricks can be stored up to 50 years and maybe longer. Maturing all the time like a wine.
