I need to get a Tea pot for my office.. and some decent Oolong to go along with it.
Just got some Pu'er Tea from the school of Chinese medicine here in Denver. As soon as my Neck heals and the acupuncturist gives me the green light for caffeine again I'm gonna tear into it. looks like good stuff. I was amazed actually and yet should have guessed that they would carry high quality teas in their retail shop.Makes sense.
love pu erh am getting ready to make a pot as i type this, it has a very earthy taste to it, takes some getting used to.
well today i am trying some oolong for the first time, and i must admit, i do like it, its not a very strong overpoweing tea, its a nice mellow drinker.
Yep...Oolong is good stuff.I also am a big fan of Jasmine teas. You can get Oolong Jasmines,Black Jasmines and even white or green tea Jasmines.I do like Blends as well. I've been mixing a Milk Oolong with some Jasmine Tea that I bought from the Chinese Medicine school store and it's been very good. Figures I would like Jasmine as the Flowers are Nighttime bloomers .
the oolong is called goddess of mercy, i only picked up an ounce and a half, so i have to make it last, i did pick up 4 oz of the russian caravan tea again, so im set there
Where did ya pick up the Russian Caravan and how much for how much ?
i picked it up at the local tea room i mentioned to you a few weeks ago, its called mrs hardestys tea room, they sell 4 oz for 10.75
Mornin Loon !.....Wow 4 oz. for 10 n change...that's no bad at all. Yeah I member the site. Hope work ain't killin ya too bad ? I have this nice strawberry flavored black tea that I bought from the Japanese market here in D-town.It all natural flavored and made in Hong Kong. It's a nice little treat I have now and then. It's cheap in price only like a couple bucks for a 2 1/2 oz tin. Just a little Agave nectar swirled directly in the pot and it's off ya go. Not bad stuff though. They have other flavors as well and it's all natural which is good. Amazing what nifty little deals can be found in the Asian markets sometimes.
so true , now if i could only find an asian market, i would be in luck, lol, we have one in harrisonburg, just dont get to go to that place as often as i would like, and as for work, i am lucky, i have had off since thru. morning, dont go in till sunday night so i am enjoying my free time.
Well... This topic has been quiet for a few months... So here I go again...
The weather is in the 40's in the morning and the high during the day is 70's so it's time to start drinking tea again...
This summer I bought a 10.7 oz tin of wei-chuan High Mountain Oolong Tea... So a question...
Does anyone have some Lapsang Souchong Tea that they would be willing to trade for this tin? I think I have probably made three pots... I just cant seem to get the taste that I like...
Are we starting up the Tea trade route all over again then ?? I've become a Jasmine Tea drinker huge now. Although a nice cuppa with milk and sug sounds good right now what with the rain outside. Thanks for the reply on the e-mail subject also. Hope we here from some of the other Tea drinkers out there again soon. Been wonderin what Loon's been up to. I'm going to have to find some good Lapsong around here.I've never really had any.Sounds like tasty stuff though. I do like Oolong though. Cheers Lads !
been working my tail off, myself i have been hitting the pu erh lately, have to get some tea sacs so i can make some lapsang in my larger pot, also have to get some more of the lapsang, and the czar nicholas. and nosewarmer, if you are not in a large hurry, i will get some lapsang out to you in a few weeks. pm me and will discuss it somemore later.
Well...bless mah soul. Looks like we got the band back together heh heh. Nice to hear from ya Loon !
I hear ya there brother. I'm going to get some milk and have a nice english style cuppa tonight. We gots rainy weather again .
I like Chamamile...My mom used to give it to me in Germany whenever I felt sick...I use it now to calm me down..It is a great relaxer tea..I just hat e when they add orange, lemon or some other stuff to it.
I like Bourbon to calm me down heh heh but I like Cham tea also .Welcome to tea sir .
I had a minor disaster a few days ago. While walking with two tea pots in one hand (I had been drinking two different teas over a couple of days) I slipped on one drop of water which resulted in the lid of a tea pot falling to the floor. It bounced one, then smashed into a million pieces. Because a tea pot without a lid is as good as a plant pot (it now lives in the garden) I was in the market for a new yixing tea pot.
Today while shopping my wife and I passed a tea shop and this one caught my eye. So my wife bought it for me as an early birthday present. I guess it pays to keep the wife happy.
Anyway, here it is.

By the way, the tea is a fujian oolong. Tastes great.
I'm a fan of the Oolong. Good happy ending +1 !:)
Tea drinker from way back. As most Southerners, I was primarily a sweet iced tea drinker ( orange pekoe and cut black blend) but after a trip to Plymouth, England, I was introduced to hot teas. Ever since then I have been enjoying them regularly. Primarily a black tea drinker although I have recently discovered Oolong, green teas and white teas. Earl Grey is a standard but I also enjoy a gunpowder green tea I found in Maine last year. Been wanting to experiment with Kambuchi. Anyone ever try that?

Never tried it,but I do like a good black tea and a good southern sweet tea for that matter.
Yeah...so it's getting cold out and I'm back on the cuppa more now than usual.I ran outta tea and was between paychecks.Long story but I had to settle for some coffee.Well...nuffins changed.I still enjoy an Iced Vanilla Latte at the coffee shop, but otherwise hot joe kills me still. Thank you Jesus I love me some Tea ! Havin some Darjeeling that a kindly female resident at work gave to me Bless her !
I was at the Chinese Restaurant the other day and they have some of the BEST hot tea... I asked the server what flavor of tea they use is and in her poor English said "Jasmine"... I asked her if she liked Oolong and she kinda "snubbed" her nose at it... She said that it's best mixed with another tea...
I also find Oolong "unique" in flavor...
I have also tried oolong, I personally am not to fond of it, not quite strong enough for my tastes.
Guess that make me the balancer then,I like Oolong,I like Jasmine and I really like a good ol cuppa strong breakfast style tea with Milk n Sug(Agave syrup). There really isn't too much I guess I don't like. Tea is the snizzle !!
Well thanks to my new found friend WVLoony (Chad) I have now had the chance to try Lapsang Souchong Tea... I must say that it is "Unique" in aroma but has a very nice flavor... The aroma reminds me of "Pencil Shavings"... I will definitely keep a few ounces on hand (kind of like pipe tobacco)
He also included a few nests of Pu-erh tea... I drank a few cups and WOW!!! It does have a light musty/earth taste that is quite pleasing to the taste buds...
Sorry I haven't been on much guys.Using a borrowed computer when I can these days.I am seriously wanting to sell my Coffee grinder.Except for Iced Lattes,Coffee tears me up ! I can drink truckloades of tea though. That may be bad or good...I dunno ?
hey nite, when you sell your grinder, tell the guy you know where another one is, lol. i havent touched coffee for a while now, and i am like everyone else, i dont miss the stomach issues that come from it. i do want to buy another french press though for making tea in, i hear its a good way to do it
I had a friend once who used to do that.He seemed to never have any complaints.I'm pretty much a teapoot kinda guy.I kept the FP just in case of company wanting coffee or something like that. I figure if I really need coffee,I'll just grind some up at the store.I'm not one of those coffee purists that has to grind the beans right at the very second of brewing. When I drink an Iced Latte it doesn't seem to do too much damage. But hot coffee........whhooooeee ! Two cups and I'm shootin fer the moon and then I get the dreaded coffee crash. More than two cups and it also starts tasting muddy to me.
Oh and the way things are going..I may just end up givin the dang thing away...everyone is too poor to buy.It were an expensive grinder too...sheeesh !
i know what you mean, mine is a cuiseanart grinder, so i know what you mean. i am looking to purchase an electric kettle, to heat water, that way i can get it done in another room besides the kitchen. i would like to be able to boil the water in the same room i brew in from time to time.
Well it evening here and I'm sipping on a cup of Lapsang Souchong... I seeped it a little long today 3-4 minutes)... Much more flavor and a nice woodsy aroma... No sugar required...
Earl Grey, hot. Make it so!
I drink a lot more coffee than I do tea, but right now I’m enjoying some Twinings green tea while I’m doing some reading.
phil, i usually steep mine for 5 min. i like mine strong, i usually use about 2 tablespoons of leaves for a 24 oz cup at work. i am currently looking for a electric kettle, 2 to be exact, one for here at the house and one for at work, i hate heating water in the microwave, actually makes it to hot. i have found that if you use the brew sacs, that can be bought online or at some of the tea rooms, it makes the process a little less cumbersome, especially when you have to brew in a sort amount of time, like i usually have at work.
