One for now, the other for the freezer for the night the wife doesn't cook.
Sour dough French toast and fresh grape compote.. and of course bacon..

Oh how I miss french toast:cry:
Rather than wait until today, I decided to make this during the fourth quarter of last night's Thursday Night Football game (the Miami Dolphins walked over the Jacksonville Jaguars, 31-13). It came out great -- the third pot in the past two months -- but going to bed at 3AM was, in retrospect, foolish. Anyway, here's a link to the recipe I adapted, along with the requisite stove-top photo.

Asian style salad, and home fries made for a nice BBQ end of summer dinner.
Looked so good we had a go at making it today. We did not have all the veggies so just used what we had. That was carrots, onions and red cabbage. Also added some cinnamon and demerara brown sugar. Used smokies with cheese too. Just had a sample of it and :tu:tu. The boss suggested adding sour cream at the table and that made it even better. Many thanks for planting the suggestion to make it.

Well, it is fall and time for
Fårikål / Lamb and cabbage. Traditional western Norwegian food.
Slow simmer for about 2-3 hrs with whole black pepper in between the layers of lamb and cabbage.
Slow food 🙂
Served with a local aquavit.

Autumn seems to bring out the “warm your ribs” foods. My favourite culinary season.

Rainy nights so did skillet strip loin steaks on the stove in rosemary infused browned butter.
With potatoes and green beans and last of the summer tomatoes..
A different but equally satisfying way to get your beef on!
Cheers.
In an attempt to get this damn thing off my hand as quickly as possible...

...I looked up foods that help heal broken bones. I decided to make a soup of some of the ingredients (plus some to make it taste good) among them marrow bones, black beans, okra, broccoli, onion , garlic, stewed tomatoes celery, carrots...
Attachment 325405
...for about 12 hours in the crock pot. I'll now let it cool to chilled and skim the hard fat off the top.
Attachment 325406
Is it soup yet?
I call it "finger soup"
You can use the marrow rings for little exercise weights to build up the finger muscles again too!
Soup is good comfort food..
:tu
HAAAAA! That was a good one.

My wife likes to do the grocery shopping rather than let me.
I went shopping yesterday and only bought 2 items.
14 lb New York strip loin and 22 lbs of asparagus.
I only spent 98 USD so I didn't think that was a bad deal.
You can guess what I had for supper..............

Ya Mike, this will be our first year ever that we aren’t sure of our big family get together. Last time I missed it was when I was in the military. Me and the wife took over for my dad 25 years ago so it’s something we look forward to with all the kids(no parents left) grandkids and now great grandkids, so we’re going to see how this plays out but it may be small here too, maybe just steaks and my wife’s chicken and cornbread dressing
Late slap together that turned out great......
Butter braised spinach and onions ans sausage cutlets.

There's one thing for certain and that is that you can't say that the onions didn't caramelize.
I hope it can be salvaged without too much of the 'well baked' flavor.
It happens to the best of us.
It certainly was edible.
Most of it is gone!
Finished dinner with German potato salad made with homemade bacon. Mmmmmmmm
