I've had a tried a Jack Daniels single barrel, but it wasn't the rye, it was the regular tennesee whisky. It was ok, considering it was Jack Daniels (I'm not the biggest JD fan). The main flavours in it were emulsion paint and PVA glue, but with a drop of water there was some vanilla and some interesting herbal flavours coming out too, which improved the experience no end. Bear in mind it was a totally different whisky to the one you asked about, but it was towards Jack Daniels' top end and still wasn't that great in my opinion. Could still be an interesting choice if you fancy a break from scotch. If you do buy a bottle I'd be interesting to hear what you think of it.
