I'm a Captain's Choice guy myself.
It's a fixture in my rotation.
The Women of the House (WOTH) seem to like it as well...bonus!

I also enjoy Captain's Choice especially after using Mike's Bay Rum soap for my shave. I am not a fan of Clove scent and CC does not use Clove in their formulation.
I make my own I a number of verities but have actually come up with 1 particular recipe that trumps all the others. I love most of the rums out there but I actually prefer my home made one above all others....
If you are interested in making you own bay rum you can start off by using a basic bay rum such as the one made by Jamaicas choice. It's a great product on its own, and at $1.77 per 8 oz bottle a failed concoction won't break the bank.
My favorite recipe is basically a controlled infusion/aging of lime skins- followed by a mellow spice soak for a few days strained and then aged with piece of maple wood in a bottle for a month before the final strain and bottling.
Sorry they haven't created smell-o-vison yet!
Just ordered me a bottle of Captains Choice Bay Rum yesterday. Cant wait till it gets here.
No secret. An adaption of various from the net.
Isopropal Alohol 500 ml
Soak for two weeks in a dark place, 1 Lime and 1 orange peel, 2 sticks cinnamon, half a dozen fresh bayleaves.
Strain off. Top off with 100 ml dark rum.
Put more or less peel or bay leaves as you like it. I have seen recipies using Vodka instead of IPA and allspice instead of/and cinnamon.
I enjoy a good bay rum scent. There seems to be quite a variety of BR scents out there—so try as many as you can.
I eventually decide to make my own batch with a preference more towards 'citrus' than spice—at least that was my intention.
The final product turned out rather nicely—think Clubman without the overly-dominant 'clove' presence. I like it, and more importantly, so does my wife.

I'm new to the BR thing but having been to a barbers who use it, I like it and my wife reckons it smells manly.
She is buying me a bottle of ogallala for my birthday. I found an order confirmation email, really it was an accident! I'll keep it on the quiet as I'm quite pleased. As far as I knew you couldn't get it here in blighty.
Ahhh, this thread and other Bay Rum threads have put me borderline BRAD.
I may have a problem
The Captain's Choice that sits so nicely on my shelf is now waiting for some new friends, two Ogallala scents and Clubman BR to arrive in the mail.
I told SWMBO that she should have the kids give them to me for Xmas.
I've been a bad boy this year, but I guaranteed myself some goodies under the tree (to include GFT Spanish Leather).
Yep...really bad boy.
