I'm using Nevia post shave for sensitive skin what do yall use
Generally I do not use any aftershave balm. If it is really needed then I found Nevia about as good as any.
Bob
Yes sir, when it's needed , I have found the Nivea to be as good as most Tc
If I use one it is Nivea
Nivea is really good, but I find Myrsol Emulsion to be even better. It's very much like Nivea but better. The only thing about it that might be perceived as negative is that it's rather thick and leaves a feeling of having an extra soothing layer of skin. Personally I don't mind at all.
I've tried several, including Nivea, and I like Speick best.

I guess I am cheap and old-school, but I like the Afta green. Nice and cooling. OR the blue if I am in the mood for a little 'burn'.
Just the Nivea regular, found I like that better than the sensitive. Just had the threads crack and break off on one container and sent an e-mail to Nivea and was mailed a coupon for a free one and two $2.00 off coupons.
I prefer Institut Karite, it has a slight tingle like Nivea but without that "Gillette" odor.

It is also very economical since you need use only a very small drop. I opened the current bottle on 6/27/13 and would guess that I have at least another month's-worth left.

I use a RazoRock after rinsing, then Edwin Jagger Sandalwood balm normally, but have switched recently to Wm. Neumann 1911 balm. Both are fine, with a light scent. I always use balm, and I avoid alcohol-based aftershave treatments...the burn only causes more irritation on my skin.
The balm I use the most is Nivea Sensitive because it is such a good value. However, my favorite balm is Trumpers Lime Skin Food.
I use Proraso Blue. Zero Irritation
I really like the unscented AoS aftershave balm. I should say that I pretty much exclusively use the AoS unscented cream and pre-shave oil too, so I'm pretty biased. (I don't work for them or anything; just a fan.) That stuff is easily available at a nearby brick-and-mortar store and I haven't so far found anything that's easier on my skin. That said, even if I didn't use anything else from them, I'd still use their aftershave balm.
Tack, I agree about the Institute Karrite balm also , I use it when I use the same soap , they go well together, I just don't use a balm much , but a bargain it is , very little needed. Tc
I like Dolerma. Alt-Innsbruck is the same thing. Mainly wheat germ oil, lanolin with a little menthol. Goes on a little greasy but absorbs quickly.
Speick followed a couple of mins later by Razorock Aftershave Wax.
I only use Penhaligons Opus 1870 Balm.
For me its the best . Its not cheap but the way it leaves your face. It has me for life.
I guess nivea balm is my day to day but my favorite is Esbjerg Verbena aftershave balm its just feels and smells delicious.
I like Nivea, and don't hate the smell, just much prefer things that smell more natural. These days the two on the bathroom shelf for when I use balm are:

I make my own. I cannot remember who on the forum first recommended it.
1 part Cornhusker's Lotion
1 part aloe
2 parts witch hazel without alcohol
Initially, it will smell of the Cornhusker's Lotion, but that fades fairly soon after the components are combined. You can adjust the viscosity of the lotion by altering the amount of witch hazel.
I also make another version that replaces half of the witch hazel with Ogallala Bay Rum, which has witch hazel as the main component.
I buy whatever pure organic liquid aloe that I can find for a cheap price.
Sorry, ....is the aloe that you use a juice?
I suppose so yes. It is an extract from the aloe Vera plant. The one that I am currently using is an aloe Vera gel that is labeled as a dietary supplement.
Have only use Truefitt and Hills freshman (I realy love this) , a guilette splash in & blam so far,
But I did get a Proraso White aftershave balm today to add to the collection and try next shave in 2 days, which I am hoping is as good as the reports I've seen
As with many of you perhaps, the "fav" changes with time. My current daily application is C.O. Bigelow
Barber series Elixir White. It's a light lotion that absorbs nicely with a nominal fragrance which is seductively pleasing and just masculine enough to be a reminder of why we shave.
Not sure what my actual favorite is, but this summer I seem to be favoring Lucky Tiger AS Tonic. However, I also like GFT Sandalwood Skin Food.
I like the Poraso after shave, but it's the only one I've tried (based on some recommendation years ago). Sounds like there are some others I could try!
During winters the climate here is very dry, and Baume.be is easily one of the best balms I have ever used, if not the best. Nivea is quite okay (the ones without alcohol), but no contender for Baume.be. So Baume.be, Esbjerg, Castle Forbes. In that order for me, but the differences are nominal. They seem expensive but they are very efficient and well worth their price.
If your climate and skin are "normal" i.e. not dry you can get away with using a less moisturising balm. Whenever I use Green Mountain Soap, Baume.be shaving cream or Meißner Tremonia shaving paste/soap I don't really need a balm outside the really dry season if my edge is not worn down.
I liked the old Proraso balm as well, but the new stuff...not so much. In my opinion an highly overrated product line that got worse than it (in my opinion, of course) already was.
But like I said, skin type and climate matter a lot with regards to your personal aftershave needs.
As for me micellar water/lotion works just fine as an aftershave.
I use cetaphil lotion with a sprinkle of my favorite after shave mix and apply
I've been playing around with combinations of Aloe Vera Gel, a little Witch Hazel to adjust viscosity, some Nivea - regular or sensitive and either Lemon or Lime essential oil to suit.
Alternate that with the Cornhusker version stated earlier.
- Meißner Tremonia (Dark Limes, and Natural Bay Rum)
- Esbjerg (gel or milk in the summer)
- Baume.be (in the winter only)
In that order.
I use several depending on the shave, and my mood. Xpec, ABC apricot , Geo. F. Thumper and Speick.
I find that Vaseline (original or deep moisture creamy formula) works well for me. The area below my lower lip can get quite dry after a shave. Vaseline seems to make the skin in that area soft. Lately, I have been experimenting with Vaseline for men because it has a better scent.
Vaseline also adds a layer of protection against Canadian winter.
Make your own!. All you need is a tub of generic vitamin E cream and some essential oils to make up the scent you like. Try adding some aloe vera, or whatever. Read the label on shop bought creams to find out what their 'secret ingredients' are and throw some of that in too. All creams have the same base, just like household cleaners. The only things different are the packaging, the smell and the 'secret ingredients'. If there are any chemists here please correct me. The latest greatest at work at the moment is a fly repellent cream that does in fact work very well. It's called cedarwood and rosemary cream. I did some research and found that the rosemary actually does nothing, so I bought some cedarwood essential oil, added it to a dollop of vitamin E cream and voila! I have a cream that works just as well as the bought cream. Its fun to make your own stuff
Too many good lotions to have a favorite, but Musgo Real is pretty nice stuff, it's only downfall IMO is it's faint scent.
Rather than lotions try growing and using your own fresh Aloe. I have several varieties (There are about 400 species) but the easiest to grow is the genus Aloe Aristata . I cut a leaf at the base slice it and placed in a plastic bag will last a week to ten days in the fridge. You can also freeze the aloe slices for a cooling aloe ice sickle after shave rub down.

Baxter's of Cali works very well for me.
