I use it like aftershave and that's it. Then I use a cologne for stinking good. My taste in stink is expensive and aftershave is only good on the face and doesn't last as long as cologne. Therefore I save on good stink not having to use both an aftershave and cologne.
Splash on Dickinson's Witch Hazel. Let it dry while putting away the tools of the trade. Follow up with whichever aftershave strikes my fancy. Nothing complicated about it.
I use an Alum Block, let it dry, then rinse after a bit. Next I use witch hazel mixed with Young Living Lavender essential oils.....pat dry then use Castle Forbes 1445 aftershave.
I splash mine on after my final rinse, and by the time I've oiled my razor and put it away it's dry and I can put on the aftershave.
Use alum, rinse, witch hazel and once dry aftershave.
I've never used alum but love witch hazel. After my last rinse I towel dry and liberally splash on the witch hazel (usually twice). Then clean up the den and finish off with aftershave.
Good stuff.

I use Thayer's WH with Aloe as my aftershave. I find the cucumber scent rather refreshing. You can find Thayer's at GNC stores.
