I to have found Aloe vera gel a very good after shave product as I have used it for several years now. After I rinse with cool water a couple times, dry my face, then apply the Aloe. Takes away the redness and the burn if I get a little too close and the price is tough to beat. 15 minutes later I usually followup with some mildly scented Barclay Crocker Vit E after shave balm. Makes my skin look & feel great. I know my wife certainly approves.

Yes Mule, I also find that the aloe has a healing effect. It has been used for medicinal purposes for 3500 years: Aloe vera - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I find that alcohol based products are too drying. Na-PCA is a natural humectant found in the skin. The lack of scent is good too (think deer hunting season) - but you could easily add your own favorite. I like the spray method of application too - and it basically an organic product. If you look at the ingredients of many commercial aftershaves, it looks like an inventory from a chemical factory or oil well. Many use propylene glycol as a humectant - which is also used as an antifreeze to de-ice aircraft! Not for my skin, thank you. For example, the ingredients of a product recently reviewed at SRP are: Water, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Glyceryl Stearate, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Glycerin, Octisalate, Butylene Glycol, ALOE Barbadensis Gel, Diethylhexyl Carbonate, Sorbitol, Caprylyl Glycol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Bertholletia Excelsa Nut Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Fragrance, Creatine, Xanthan Gum, Tetrasodium EDTA, Hydrolyzed Lepidium Meyenii Root, 1,2-Hexanediol, Citric Acid, Capryloyl Glycine, Sodium Hydroxide (thats Lye!).

Thanks Dennis...I did get it after reading this post (Whole Foods Stores, Inc.)...it is FANTASTIC stuff....I use it after my shave:

1. Wash face with warm water
2. Follow up with cold water
3. Add Na-PCA in palm and spread to damp face
4. Let dry & follow up with favorite balm or skin food
5. Good to go for whole day
