I like strong aftershaves, for me AV smells great...I also like Proraso Splash, Dominica Bay Rum and of course Old Spice. If for some reason my face is irritated, I use a balm like Pre de Provence shea butter after the AS. HOG

Moonshine??? The witch hazel I got came from Dollar General and I think it has a woody earthy smell, when I put it on. I love it. The smell goes away quick.
I do enjoy Aqua Velva Ice blue after shave. Have yet to try anything else except for Old Spice.
I group my best afershaves under two broad categories--winter and summer. During the winter months I prefer Pashana and Pino Silvestre. During the summer, I like Folid products and Proraso because of the cooling menthol in them.
I am hyper sensitive to fragrances and prefer none the witch hazel works for me.
Don't know what's the best, but my favorites are Royal Lyme, and Royal Bay Rhum. I use whichever smells best with the shaving cream I'm using that day. (Taylor of Old Bond Street, in various scents.)
It hasn't been pointed out, but there is much more to a good aftershave than the scent. The trick is finding something that is soothing and moisturizing for your skin type, in a scent (or none, if you prefer) that you like.
For me, I like alcohol containing splashes like Taylor's No 74, especially after GFT Coconut oil soap or cream, Proraso splash, and Alt Innsbruck particularly after Tabac soap. I just got some Harris Arlington, and I am liking it so far, especially in this warm weather. Harris Pink is another favorite, since I like Rose creams and soap, but it has no alcohol.
As far as Aqua Velva goes, I much prefer the green colored Lime version which, for some reason, is only available in Canada.
