I consider Thayers to be a pre-aftershave :p
The rest makes sense...a balm to moisturize and a splash for scent.

Had to post my latest aftershave acquisition. Boom.

Do they still make this!? Where can you find it!?
Thayer's--the rose kind is all I use. I pour some in my hands and splash it on.
I saw some cheapo plain witch hazel at Bartell's Drug Store (Store chain in Washington). Might do the trick but I don't need any at the moment.
For After Shaves:
Pinaud Clubman (Classic, Vanilla, Musk, Bay Rum and Special Reserve)
Captain's Choice Bay Rum
English Leather
Old Spice
Aqua Velva
And for Balms
Geo F Trumper's Coral Skin Food
I like the liquids better than the balm but I travel a lot and the liquids are problematic.
The balm feels greasy and I miss the 'morning burn'...but one does what one can.
I find myself reaching for Proraso green tea most of time, my favorite.
i LIKE Colonel Ichabod Conk Almond Balm After Shave
Gents:
I do understand that either aftershaves or balms from the fragrance perspective needs to be something that the person will used needs to feel comfortable with it. In my opinion balms are more related to irritation shaves or similar situations, so I like better that aftershaves lotions better.
In other words I like the woods, leathers and Tabaco aromas. Following that fragrance line I use as the number one: Alt Innsbrusck, after that one Geo F Trumpers Spanish Leather, Tabac and WM.
When I use creams or soaps that are more light in terms of aroma such as lavender, unscented or almond then I use aftershaves more light in terms of aroma like Jockey Club from Caswell Massey, Floid Blue or Proraso.
I hope this helps the main poster.
Thanks
Kenneth
