1+ and now to go out and find the ingredients.
Coconut oil can be found in upscale or organic grocery stores. Have fun trying to find lanolin. Found a tube of lanolin in the baby goods section where it is sold for nursing mothers to use for chapped nipples. Looking for any other source for lanolin tho because a small tube was nine bucks!
You can simply use olive oil as an all in one no lathering just the oil.
You can use say almond oil as a carrier and then add a fragranced oil.
You can use as a pre shave oil or as i say just use that to shave with. I Have.
Sure there are lots of threads on the web about making your own shaving oil.
You bring up an excellent point. Extra Virgin Olive Oil is indeed the all around cowboy. I was introduced to it on this very site not long ago and have since kept a large bottle of it in my shave cave. Certainly if you feel the urge to be creative and want to experiment with various things, by all means knock yourself out but in my travels I have used straight extra virgin olive oil as a pre-shave (applied directly to the face before lathering), in a super lather (i.e. soap or cream of the day spiked with 6-8 drops of EVOO) and even as an aftershave (which works very well if you're prone to dry skin). It really works great in any of those roles and contrary to popular belief won't make your skin feel greasy or sticky. Best of all, it can be had at any grocery store (stay away from the condimental olive oil though and stick with EVOO.)
Olive oil,Barango red wine vinger, garlic salt and fresh ground pepper makes a great salad dressing:)
I'm not gonna say no to the olive oil thing, because honestly I guess this is a matter of opinion, but using olive oil as a pre shave, ine leu of shave cream or as a post shave is just kinda Nasty given all the other options out there.
It's like slathering grease on..... Some thing about that I just can get passed. Ymmv
