Thanked: 19Shave Soap
Do me a solid, bros. I have tried dozens of soaps, and prefer to face lather using a soap, not a cream. A hard soap not a mushy soft soap. But over the years some of my favorite hard soaps have gone soft, without saying so. Proraso, Omega, etc. They are now tubs of goo, and so don't last as long. What do you recommend for a harder soap?
Thank you,
Your best friend,
Smyth

Are you letting them dry in between used?
Do you keep them in an air tight container.
I would try letting them air dry for a week or two.
Soap takes a long time to dry. MdC sits for 6 months after pouring. If you don't care where you are, you are not lost.

Thanked: 19Well, no. But before they changed their formula, they came hard and stayed hard. I don't think I should have to dry them out, but when I have left the lid off for extended periods, they have not hardened up. Do any good soaps come hard to begin with anymore?

My two favorites are Wholly Kaw (pick your flavor) and Tabac. Both are fantastic performers!!

Every soap I have is a hard soap other than the Croat and they stay hard, not sure what your doing, mine are as they were when bought. Not sure about omega, I thew it out the first time I used it, but I have 2 jars of proraso and their fine, they are not a hard soap they are a croap so if you want hard , buy MWF. tabac! Green Mountain, the list goes on and on. Tc

Thanked: 38Try the Green Mountain soaps. You will be happy again... The pucks are made for a shave cup. I grate mine into empty soap tins.

Murphy’s Wool Fat may be the soap for you...or Arko, if youre willimg to use a shave stick and either rub it on your beard or load from the stick to brush. Both work well for face lathering for me.

Mitchell’s Wool Fat or Tabac are both extremely hard soaps that stay hard.

TOBS hard soap is very good, IMO.
Yes to MWF and Green Mountain.
I would also add Meisner Tremonia, Ogallala, Fine, and HaslingerLast edited by SRNewb; 12-04-2017 at 02:30 AM.

Thanked: 19Thanks. Murphy's Wool Fat didn't really work all that well for me. I've been tempted by the value of Arko.
