Face Lathering Tips....

Interested in some tips and tricks from those who face lather.

I'm a big scuttle user, love the warm lather, but have had a few recent shaves going back to my old face lathering, and forgot how much I enjoyed it.

What I'm interested in, is some tips on how to get a somewhat warm lather while face lathering, and anything that stands out that is done differently than using a scuttle.

If you had a large enough sink, maybe you could fill it with hot water and float a bowl containing your brush. That's the only idea I have.

I face lather on the road (hotels) or when I use Martin De Candre. I fill a cup with very hot water & soak a brush in it, that is usually a bulb with some backbone.

Remove the brush, slight squeeze, load the brush , then make the lather on the face; returning to the hot water in the cup a few times by dipping the tip of the bulb in.

I use a very similar technique as John.
It works great.
The redi in the super hot water bring the warm right back. I often bring a cup of boiling water with me for the dip, and by the time I get to the dip, it is a sensible temp

I only face lather,

I have been experimenting with running the hot water and the putting a small dab of C.O. Bigelow on each cheek. Playing with how small of a dab it takes......

Rinse under the then hot water and then shake the brush. Rub over the dabs of lather and away I go.

Not what I would consider hot but warm.

Interesting, I rarely use creams because they require me to bowl lather. I apparently just need to think outside the bowl.

I face lather and use a scuttle for most shaves. I'll fill the scuttle with hot water and soak my brush while I shower. If I am using soap I will sprinkle water on the puck, or if I'm using a soap stick I will dip it in the water prior to stepping into the shower. After the shower I will load the brush, dump the water, and then swirl the brush a couple of times then let it sit in the warm scuttle while I strop. When using a soap stick I will leave the brush soaking in the scuttle while I strop, then rub the stick on my beard, shake the brush and begin face lathering. Or, if I'm using a cream I place cream into the scuttle and swirl it like I do when using a soap. When I'm done stropping I will re-wet my face and start face lathering. The brush sits in the scuttle with a couple of drops of water during the shave. In the winter I might refill the the scuttle with hot water when I get out of the shower since the water in the scuttle tends to cool off.

I like to use creams and only face lather. Try putting a dollop on your brush that you were soaking in hot water while you shower.
