    Default Just starting to *click*

Tonight I was getting ready for work and was working up a lather on my face. I was kinda of just dazing off a bit working up the lather and all of a sudden I realized that it was not "sounding" right. (needed a dab more water )

I dipped my brush in the sink and continued on and the lather was great in just a few seconds later.

Just wondering when you knew it was right and it just started to "click" for you.

    jrjunky,

It started to click for me yesterday morning, when I was able to whip up my very first uberlather. The combination of the lather, plus stropping and shaving technique with my very first str8 razor from last December resulted in the closest, most comfortable str8 razor shave I have ever had.

Congrats to getting the lather moment right- I am still struggling-

While I have been concentrating on learning honing and stropping I
have been stumbling along in my prep efforts.
However, I think (big caveat there) I have the blade handling down and am only cowardly around the chin area.

Trying to use a hot towel as getting from shower to sink and lather is a mess in the making. The jury is still out on pre shave oils with me.

I'm right there with you. I have been disappointed with my lather b/c I've focused all my energies on my stropping and shave technique. Hopefully I can get the nice lather that is pictured in the wiki someday. Congrats on the "clicking".

Luckily for me, my first ever cream was Castle Forbes. Until today, I have found only one cream that lathers as easily. Like stropping, proper preparation plays a crucial role, and I keep recommending that beginners buy quality creams (if in doubt, consult the reviews section) and stick to the lather building instructions in the Wiki. This is a rather fool proof way.

    Good luck,
    Robin
