Coconut uberlather
In another thread, we were discussing the use of a coconut shell for a lathering
bowl, and it was suggested that I try lathering inside a freshly opened coconut
before the meat was removed. The speculation was that the coconut oil might
enhance the lather.
So today I tried it, and it worked like a charm!
Using another suggestion, I "put da lime in da coconut"...SRD Lime Shaving Soap.
Only a 5 second swirl of the brush on the soap puck, and then straight to
lathering on the coconut meat.
Now, I don't know how to quantify this, but my subjective impressions are:
1) that a small amount of soap produced abundant lather...more than enough for
a 2-pass shave...and this was with cold water
2) the lather was very smooth and rich
3) the shave was delightful
4) and my skin felt very soft and moisturized, without using any sort of AS balm
or splash.
I like SRD Lime soap, I use it 2 or 3 times a week, and I don't mean to disparage
its quality in any way. Nevertheless, I do think that the raw coconut did
enhance the lather.
I think I'll try this again, but it takes a fair amount of work to husk and open a
fresh coconut, so I won't be doing it every day.
