Loving the glycerin!!!

Finally broke down and picked up a bottle of glycerin to try out some uberlather. I'm hooked.

First go was with a couple of drops added to my go to cream, Real Shaving co. Definitely noticed a bit more slickness.

Tried it the next day with 5 drops. Oh yeah, now we're talking. Face was so much slicker and the lather seemed much richer.

Gave it a shot today with some good old Col' Conks bay rum. 5 drops and I was in shaving heaven. Face stayed so slick it was awesome.

Awesome thing is that the bittle that cost $5 will last me a long time.

Just wanted to share my experience.

Great stuff. I don't know why no one mentions it, but it can also be used as a balm if you follow the directions on the bottle. Just remember that some people have allergies to glycerin and there is such a thing as too much.

Agreed Deig! If I add too much then I can't stretch the skin as it slides too much. I love using it though and when done right it gives a great touch to the lather.

Sometimes I mix it just with cream, but normally it's with cream and soap. My normal daily shave is generally with Überlather, the three ingredients together are certainly greater than the sum of their parts...My favourite mix at the moment is Speick, Crabtree and Evelyn Nomad and glycerin, but tomorrow it'll be Truefitt and Hill Trafalgar Cream, Windsor soap (the sweet citrussy smells will go well together), with Trafalger AS. I'll use the Osacar pre shave oil first; the Ylang Ylang scent will go nice with the citrus too.

I have been using glycerin also. Sometimes added to soaps but usually as a preshave, mixed with a bit of Classic Shaving Sandalwood soap or Shave Secret oil. Works great between passes too.

They have it at WalMart for a few bucks.

Tried it again this morning with some Col Conk Almond which I had bought months ago and hadn't tried other than to practice lather with. Loaded the brush, 5 drops of glycerin in the bowl and wend to town building some nice rich lather.

Best part is how well the razor glided on my face. Smooth as butter. A little splash of water on my face and I felt like I had covered my skin with oil, so slick.

Very nice. The glycerin definitely is helping with the little bit of irritation I was getting from learning to use the straight atg.

I'm hooked for sure.

Is it true that you should wash (not just rinse) your brush if you use glycerin?

Definitely agree with the benefits of adding a few drops of glycerin to the lather, and wanted to share another use. I started wondering what the difference was between my $3 bottle of glycerin, and my $20 bottle of pre-shave oil, so I tried rubbing glycerin on my wet hands and using that as a preshave. The glycerin is noticeably thinner than the preshave, but seems to give good results. The preshave smells very nice, and feels good as I apply it, but I'm not sure that it actually gives a better or more comfortably shave.
