I love the smell of my aftershaves, but dislike that the scent dies after an hour or so. I've been browsing through some colognes on different sites and was wondering, what's your favorite cologne and why?

I use Channel. I have had 4 flavors and now considering which of 3 choices I haven't tried. Oil based, not over bearing, and lasts. After shave scent will die off but a shot of cologne and you will stink good for a long while.
Clubman Pinaud,,,three bottles in the house & 1 bottle in the car,,,,scent dies down,,just splash more on,,,;)
I would say I have a good collection of colognes but I have seen how many other people have so I will say I have a couple. I almost picked up some Channel at the duty free store in London on my way home from a deployment but ended up not getting it (now I wish I did). My newest one is Penhaligons Elixir so it is my favorite as of now, just because it is new. I do think Penhaligons makes some good stuff
Has anyone tried the TOBS Bayrum aftershave cologne? Is it more of an aftershave, or cologne?
I am crazy about Dior Homme Intense. I would suggest you buy some samples or decants and try then out. There's a ton of info on Fragrantica.com and Basenotes.com
Need I say more. The smell NEVER dies. And heres why...
In The Heat Of Hai-Karate - YouTube
Tom Fords Tuscan Leather. Smells like leather, wood, cigars and metal
+1 on Tuscan Leather
I like Royall Vetiver, Tabak, Musgo Real. There are others that are also good.
Czech & Speake 88 is one of my favorites..........
Czech & Speake is on my list as my next purchase
I love the smell of Guerlain Homme Intence. Stayes on for the whole day.
Hai Karate !!!! AAAAHHHH hahahahahahahaha dude you're killin me !!!
I still use the tried and test Acqua Velva aftershave that my father would use when he shaved as for cologne I really like those with sandalwood like Azzaro Pour Homme or GEO F Trumper Astor.
Knize Ten. Great leather scent. Found out the hard way that trick is ONE spray on your chest, and that's it. It's potent. And never spray directly on your clothes. The drydown gets weird and never really gets to that leather scent.
Never been crazy for the spray bottles I like to splash my aftershave or cologne on me directly to my face.

SWMBO Loves it and so do I!
The OP mentions "cologne" in the title and body of his post, along with "aftershave", so I'm going to limit my reply to those, and not include EDTs or EDPs.
Pinaud Lilac Vegetal (the one everyone loves to hate)

I have to say that I like that my aftershave isn't strong and is gone shortly afterwards. Now when I say gone I mean that unless you come very close or give me a hug you won't smell it but it's still there. I have come home from work and my wife has commented on my aftershave after a hug. IMO that's the way it should be. Now on a special occasion like a date with the wife I will dress up and wear a cologne along with my dress leather jacket. When I do it is special and my wife takes notice but even then it's one spray on neck and for a weaker cologne maybe one more on the wrist but normally just the one on neck. Guys that reek of cologne make me wonder why they just wouldn't take a shower instead?
I don't normally wear cologne but there's one I want to try it's Floids Blue cologne every time I go to order some it's sold out. From what I understand it smells just like the Floid Blue aftershave. I really like the smell of Floid's Black and there shave Balm.
My favorite by far is Narcisso Rodriguez but also Terre D'Hermes and Aramis come close second
I am growing to like Halston AS and cologne. I don't use cologne very often, though, and when I do I use it as sparingly as possible. Never could stand a woman with a huge, overpowering cloud of perfume following her around, and I'm pretty sure that works in reverse, as well.
Is it just me or the older some women get the more their perfume taste turns to "weed killer" variety. Do their smell buds die off as they age? Perhaps it's a negative cycle of their perfume actively killing their sense of smell hence the need for ever increasing quantities?
I used to live by Armani Acqua Di Gio, but my girlfriend gave me a bottle of Versace last week and I really like it. Both are very light with one little daub, and unholy and overpowering with more than that.
+1 on the girls/guys who's perfume/cologne can be seen in the air with a lazer-pointer - haha - I encounter that all too often on campus. Not so much here, though, as I did at A&M.
I've been enjoying the Trumper colognes. My favorites are GFT, eau de quinine, wild fern and the eucris EDT. You can get a sampler pack from their web site that has about 10 cologne samples along with some shave creams and their skin foods.
Pinaud Clubman is a good aftershave, their Citrus Musk cologne however has a longer staying power, but still has that bergamot undertone that I always associate with Pinaud and really like.
IMO,,
Cheers.
Jean Paul Gaultier - Le Male
Hugo Boss - Energize
Ermenegildo Zegna - Uomo

Mike
Creed Aventus and GIT,

Guerlain Vetiver
I like curve.
