Witch hazel's been a medicine cabinet staple as far back as I can remember, starting from the Grandparent's house. Supposed to be good for aftershave, insect bites, hemorrhoids, and who knows what else.
I have no comments on "similarity of usages"...:ziplip:
Aloha!
Witch Hazel is a tried and true "natural" aftershave. My grandfather used it. So did my father up until about 1965 when he finally started using fragrenced after shaves.
I have experimented with "custom" aftermarket Witch Hazel blends. Currently I'm trying this one I found on Amazon;

It is Witch Hazel but has Tea Tree Oil, Aloe leaf and White Willow Bark extract also added in. I find it excellent. But regular Witch Hazel is also excellent. Just an FYI.

sold! I was in the market for a new aftershave, and then I came across this thread.
I now also use Witch Hazel and that stuff works like a charm. I used the Loblaw brand due to the fact that I can found any other brands in my local store or pharmacy. I have to say the Loblaw brand is fantastic my face feel just terrific after the use, I use my alum block right after my shave and I rince right after whit WH, just a terrific feeling.
