Not much aftershave talk, just curious what everyone uses?
Right now Thayers witch hazel and old spice on the neck only.
Right now I am using a bulk barbershop staple called Topaz by Master Well Comb... very old school, scent is pleasant, masculine and dissipates quickly without interfering with any cologne that may be applied after.
As for balms, I have been happy with Nivea for a long time. Lately, I have been trying stuff from SCS and Mama Bear. Good stuff. I received a free sampler from Floris, but it leaves an oily residue on my face. What I find I like most is the cheapest - a mixture I made of Thayer's, Corn Husker's lotion and Aloe Vera.
For splashes - Old Spice and AV!
My current combination of products is as follows
Shower: Garnier fructus conditioner
Post shower/pre shave: Somersets original shave oil (put on before I start lathering and not entirely necessary)
Shave cream: The body shop shave cream
Post shave: The body shop Arbor after shave balm
Beyond that I use cologne sometimes, but not always.. (Armand basi - in blue or Armani Black code depending on the occasion)
I get a good shave with it.
Right now, I'm using my mixture of Witchhazel/ Pinuad Clubman and I finish off with Mama Bear's Peppermint. That peppermint rivals Osage Rub in strength, it wakes you up!. It beats Osage in that it lasts all day. Even in the evenings, I still smell peppermint.

Thayer's with alcohol or Trumper's Coral Skin Food for AS...Happy for men cologne, when I wear anything.
Thayer's Witch Hazel with aloe and Pinaud
Clubman, TOBS Bay Rum or TOBS No. 74
Victorian Lime. I'm always looking to add more
though.

DOMINICA!...
Truefit 1805, Mama Bear Summer Ice, Home made bay rum, Trumpers skinfood, aqua velva balm, pinaud clubman, art of shaving lavendar, Nivea Antiirritation, crabtree and evelyn sienna.
I like to mix it up.
DR Harris Arlington
DR Harris Pink
Pinaud Clubman
TOBS Eton College - my favorite scent
Old Spice or Pinaud Clubman.
I make my own out of Vodka, Essential Oils and Aloë Vera. It's excellent, cheap, and I smell just like I want to afterwards.
At the moment, I am very smitten with...
Anherb when I want a balm or
Osage Rub when I splash.
That Osage Rub is frostbite in a bottle, man!!
Aqua Velva Cool Blue, Pinuad Clubman, Dominica, Old Spice and Lucky Tiger Aspen and sometimes just plain witch hazel...gotta pick up some Osage Rub to try out.
Trumpers skin food
MB's summer peppermint ASB
Dominican Bay rum
Proraso ASB
That is all I have tried since I started straight shaving about 10 months ago.
Tabac a/s, Pinaud Clubman, Dominica, Royall Bay Rhum, Aqua Velva, DR Harris Sandalwood, T&H Trafalger, Old Spice, Speick a/s and if it a dry day, I'll throw on a little Coral Skin Food or Proraso Liquid Cream.

But I ususally use save that for summer time. A Proraso shave followed by Osage Rub=
Right now the rotation includes Floris Santal splash, Trumpers Spanish Leather, Tabac, TOBS Sandalwood. If I need extra moisture then AOS Sandalwood balm or Baxter of California Balm.
I always start with Alum then add pinaud clubman, TAGMSC balm, Bigalow Bay Rum, Clubman Balm, or one of several calognes I have depending on my mood and plans for the day.
some homebrewed bayrum
I've been using Obsession after-shave since the 80's when it came out.
Now I cut it 50/50 with witch hazel to tone the scent down a tad and make it last longer.
I'm not object to trying others, I guess I'm a creature of habit and I've always liked the stuff.
Pinaud Clubman, Masters bay rum or TOBS Sandalwood. Like them all but looking for others.
Straight rubbing alcohol. Fresh scent that does interfere with cologne and keeps any razor burn at bay.
I must be in the right place ... so many who appreciate Pinaud Clubman!
That's my usual, and occasionally I'll repair to a very old, but still good bottle of Russian Leather and remember my misspent youth.
I hadn't been using anything until my recent trip to Milwaukee, where I ended up acquiring a tube of Pre de Provence shea butter enriched balm. The stuff works and feels wonderful and IMO smells fantastic. Matter of fact, if anyone knows of anything along those same lines I'd be willing to try something different......but for now I'm hooked on this!
Depends on what I've dug up out of my shamefully large hoard of razors, creams, A/S, soaps, etc....
This past week I've used (not on the same day)
Challenge (by Master)
Spanish Leather A/S (Truefitt&Hill)
Proraso pre/post
Aqua Velva "Ice Blue Classic"
Next week, perhaps something different...
Guess it depends mostly on what I happen to reach for and if I wear any A/S at all.

I love all the pre de provence stuff! the shave soap is really good to!!!!!
I have clubman original (very strong), Vanilla (doesn't smell like vanilla, but a very nice scent), and Special Reserve (I like this one in the winter, strong scent. My wife claims it smells like a brothel, but in other words.) Theres a reason Pinaud products are still around!
Pinaud Clubman, Dominca Bay rum, trumpers lime skin food. Still looking for a cologne.
Just Aqua Velva, don't have any colognes...
I enjoy using all clubman aftershaves, but partial to the clubman classic for that old time barbershop scent.
Limit
I've got waaay too many aftershaves to post them all, but I've got a favorite recently.
Alt-Innsbruck!! This stuff has the menthol kick I love, and a great earthy tobacco fragrance that lasts for a good while.
The only cologne I use is Hoyt's which I put in a glass atomizer I got at the local healthfood store (Greenlife) for less than a buck. It's got much more staying power this way than out of the bottle and has a great old-man scent (originates from 1868) That I love!

Polo, because the wife likes it.
All this coming back to straight razor took me off guard,so i got everything exept for the aftershave lotion. My mother in law gave my for hollidays a English Leather set of Cologne and after shave. So that is what im using now...i realy like it.
RPR.
CAR's Hydrolast Conditioner is excellent as an after shave. You only need a smidge but it goes a long way. It's all-natural, which doesn't hurt. Unfortunately, Charles has turned people off to anything he sells with his lofty writing. I can't speak for Method Shaving overall but the after shave is a keeper.
As for cologne, Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male is my staple.
Vergulde hand after shave balm. Smells like old fashioned shaving soap.

I use all sorts of stuff:
Em's Place witch hazel splash
QED DaVinci water
Nivea ASB
Floris Santal ASB
AV splash and AV balm
Old Spice
English Leather
QED A/S conditioner in various scents
Polo Sport ASB
Penhaligon's Opus 1870 balm
Speick a/s splash and balm
Brut a/s splash and balm
I usually like to mix up the splash followed by a balm, then a cologne that matches....the Floris balm is just wonderful,, but I tend to have a little dry skin.
I have yet to try the GFT skin foods, but I'll get around to them eventually
Since my last post on this thread I've added Old Spice,
Aqua Velva, Pinaud's Lilac Vegetal and Captain Smith's
Caribbean Bay Rum.
John
Brut, Old Spice, Aramis's JHL, Stetson Black, and good ol' Gillette after shave balm.
