    Default nice smelling aftershave?

I was just using skin bracer aftershave until I saw clubman lilac vegetal after shave and gave it a try. I love the way it feels and works but my wife is always saying I smell like an old man...lol I would like some recomendations on some that are a bit more modern and maybe have a bit more of a cologne smell=ie:not old man smell....lol Thanks

proraso may fit the bill. It's one of my favorites in both the scent and performance department.

I'm mostly an Aqua Velva Ice Blue or Bay Rum guy myself.

But Aqua Velva also makes a really great aftershave named Aqua Velva Ice Sport. You get a similar bracing feeling as your Clubman, but the scent is much more modern, a bit like Davidoff's Cool Water, if that means anything. It also has some ingredient in it that my skin really likes, maybe the glycerin. It doesn't have the same level of menthol cooling that AV Ice Blue has, but it still feels great and has a nice scent.

It's inexpensive like Clubman too, so if you don't like it, you're not out much money. Wal-mart has it. Looks like this:

If your wife doesn't like the smell of it have her go buy you something she likes. My wife buys all my cologne and aftershave anymore, and it's worked out well. It also makes it very easy.

brokeup: You might want to take a look at SOTD to see what the members are using.

    1) Choice of sent is a very personal thing, I suggest you just find one you like a go with it.

    2) Why do you care what your wife thinks (see 1. above).

Hi brokeup. This is really a good time of year to go shopping for scents. With the holiday seasons coming, you will find some nice gift boxes with colonges, aftershaves and sometimes aftershave balms, all included in one box. Wal-mart, rite-aid regular deptment stores, will supply mostly less expensive gift boxes. While malls and fragrence outlets will carry more of your higher end, or more expensive scents. The nice thing with fragrance outlets, or higher end department stores like Macy's, Sakks, Bon Ton, is that, the clerks behind the counter will give you sample stripps of various colognes. Then you can smell for youself, what you like. The internet is another fine place to find colognes/AS, but you can't smell them till after the purchase. Most of your straight razor sites carry colongnes/ and A/S. Such as Straight Razor Designes.com Classic Shaving.com. Just click on the top or side advertisement banners and you will find scents there. I understand the wife, and scents thing. My wife likes stetson, I'm not crazy about it, but I wear it to please her. I like Taylor of Old Bond Street- Mr. Taylor's scent of colonge and A/S. She don't, so I wear it just for me. Here's another idea, may be you can have her pick the more expensive colognes, that she likes, and get them for you for the holidays; and you can pick up the cheaper department store scents for yourself? Just and Idea? Now I need my wife to do the swich, to more expensive fragrences, for myself. LOL. Good luck in choosing your favorite scent. This is all part of the fun. STRAIGHT RAZOR 13.

You like Lilac vegetal? I don't know what to say. I think its terrible stuff. I remember years ago barbershops reeked of the stuff. maybe that's why I don't like it. Har Har

Scents are a personal thing so whats eau de skunk to one is perfume to another. Just get what you and the missus likes.
