Yesterday and today is Armani Stronger with You
Aloha!
I was out of town these last few days, stopped into a Walmart and got a bottle of Aqua Velva "MUSK". $3.89. How can you NOT try a bottle at that price? I like it. It was my fragrance of the day today. Not my favorite but for under 4 bucks the bottle? Darn nice.
I can understand that. It's a subtle fragrance that does not over-power. On that "scale" it reminds me of Lauder for Men. This too was more subtle than bold. Sometimes women respond to that. I had a 30-something woman during my work day say (and this is exact) "Wow, you smell nice."
Actually, that's a fine complement.
Many decades ago, I used to wear Xeryus and was WAY too liberal with it. I remember I was staying at the Marriott Boston, splashed a bunch on, left the room and got on the elevator. Three business ladies were on the elevator. Their remarks about how I smelled were not pleasant. I must have reeked. Well, I was young, and not yet a "gentleman", so I did not understand moderation on fragrance. Especially a very bold fragrance like Xeryus.
Hanae Mori gets praise rather than scorn even if you are a tad too liberal with the application. However, I am far less liberal with how I apply it these days.

Yesterday was Clubman Vanilla......haven't thought about today yet
Today will be Clubman Bay Rum.
Aloha!
Today, Saturday, it was L'Occitane Cedrat. I just got a new FULL bottle for free. My last bottle had a pump failure and the local L'Occitane store replaced it no questions asked. So I got 1 1/2 bottles for the price of one. You gotta' love that.
Mahalo!

Aloha!
Today I kept it top shelf. Well, top shelf for me since I am a big fan of Clubman. So anything over $50 the bottle is top shelf in my shave den.

Encens Chypre by Sultan Pasha. Second wearing from a sample. Very nice attar. Arm's distance projection 6+ hours in, from less than a drop smeared on my wrist. I think I still prefer his Pure Incense, but this is very good.

Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille EDP
Attachment 287914
(excerpt from Basenotes' entry for Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille)
Top Notes: Tobacco leaf, Spices
Heart Notes: Tonka bean, Tobacco flower, Vanilla, Cocoa
Base notes: Dry fruit accord, Woods
I've owned this since it first appeared, and have used it sparingly; I say this not because of cost (it is quite expensive, with the 1.7-ounce selling for ±$200), but because I tend to overspray.
So, my impressions. I've grown to like it more over the years -- "respect" it, as well. I don't get much-if-any demarcation between "top" and "heart" notes, and the "base" notes are AWOL. What I do get is -- from the start -- a perfect blend of Tobacco and Vanilla, where from one second to the next they're vying for primacy. Not "violently" so... more like "one itches, and the other scratches". I can't speak to its projection, but yesterday's mid-afternoon application has lasted well into today (as we speak!).
It's what people call a "sweet tobacco", but having spent a couple of teenage years with chewing tobacco, I disagree. No sooner does the vanilla emerge, than the tobacco envelops it, and balance is restored. I find it aromatic and restful... "lavender" for adults men.
Give it a go! (and do let us know)
