Lalique Encre Noire EDT
I'm beginning to wonder about the sample of this product that I purchased on eBay. Specifically, there's nothing "noir(e)" about it; rather, I get a very "grassy" vetiver smell... it reminds me of Malizia Vetyver Uomo EDT, which a reviewer on Basenotes.com described in these words:
"This is definitely the best vetiver I've ever smelled. It's sweet, but not too sweet. I own Encre Noir and have tried Guerlain's vetiver, but prefer this one."
Interesting, given the almost uniform reviews of Encre Noir (see link, above).
I once owned a bottle of Vetyver Uomo, and found it not strong enough; now, however, I like Encre Noire for it's non-trumpeting identity and close-in aroma. Plus, it complements the rose-scented shaving cream. So, what's my problem? How can I risk buying a bottle of it, if what I've found is not "The Real McCoy"?
I also think Encre Noire is very nice, and it's available for a reasonable price.
I have had samples from various places but now stick with the true sample sites as you know what you're getting and that its still good.
I would say mine had a heavy fir accent to it with that piney forest smell about it. Im pretty sure mine was just the edt
