How do you say 4711?

I ordered a bunch of stuff from SRD about two weeks ago - got to that point where I had to make the decision: Pay for shipping or buy something else to get free shipping. Pretty easy decision. I bought some 4711 splash since the price fit the amount I needed and it is something I always wanted to try. Not sure if I like it yet - need to give it some time. But here is my question - How do you say it? Is it "Four-seven-one-one" or "fortyseven-eleven" or "Fourthousand sevenhundred and eleven" (which I doubt). To add to the mystery, should the numbers, no matter what the final grouping, be said in German? So, if we were discussing this in person, what would I call it?

I also read it as 'four seven eleven'...thought it could be 'forty-seven eleven'. Surely not the others though.

I "say" it forty seven eleven, since I rarely actually talk about shaving with someone else that's how I think of it :D

Joe, as others have noted, it's called Forty-Seven Eleven.

I agree forty seven eleven, even if that is not how it's said, it just feels right. My wife calls it twenty four seven (she can never remember what it's called, but likes it).

In Germany we say: Siebenundvierzigelf.
This corresponds to: Forty-seven eleven.
Of course with the accent of a large middle-aged deer.

it's called "Siebenundvierzig Elf" (fourtyseven-eleven)

Well as it's a German product I'll accept the posts from Germany that say it Forty seven eleven, but in the UK it's known as four seven eleven.

I guess, any of those will work and in different countries it might have spreat this or the other way.
In the shop You might say: "Ahhh ... and one of those", when You're not sure. Or, if You want to be really cool, You use the German "Siebenundvierzig - elf" ("... and a large one of the Siebenundvierzig elf please"). Like we do over here with all the American products, that we try to pronounce as cool and American as we can. Making complete fools (Can I try the Naikieee please") ;)

Yea, everywhere it may be said slightly differently. My mom was German and used it. I grew up calling it four,seven, eleven, go figure. What the heck is "Naikiee"?

I like the 4711 scent, but it evaporates about as fast as anything I have used. That's why I seldom use it. I don't want to be the guy whose aftershave can be smelled five minutes before I walk into the door, but I want it to last a little while.

Although, if you look at the Wikipedia entry, Nike the sportswear company is correctly pronounced [naɪkiː], as opposed to Nike the Greek goddess, pronounced [nǐːkɛː].

So popular but apparently correct in the context.

I just say "that" to products, pointing at them and "darling" to women. Makes life a lot more easy

Sure they did. They invented this stuff, called it "sandals" then. They even held the first marathon. Only one participant at that time - today there are ten-thousands.
Luckily the mobile communications network had not been as developed at that time, otherwise we would not have that today. No Marathon, no running shoes and probably not Nike...

But yes, nike does not translate to "running shoe"
