This is my 2nd straight, the other being a wade & butcher in need of resto that I found at an antique store for $5.
I saw it and fell in love with it...I can't wait to get it in my hands. What do you guys think of the price? Did I overpay?
Hard to say - I think you did OK on price. John Crowley sells custom-scaled large Friodurs at around the 150-200 USD mark. I know nothing about woods, but if it's true that your scale material is expensive, and if it's true that the cutting edge is larger than usual, then I think you did alright! Beautiful razor no matter what :tu

My Henckels just arrived in the mail today, so I can finally make the official sig addition. I can't wait for the first shave tomorrow. :D
It finally arrived and in good condition!
Just a little clean up and some light honing, shaved pretty darn good!
I still need some better hones to do her justice, but I am very satisfied! I must admit, this one is the leading candidate for some custom scales and a full restoration..... we'll see.

Does anyone know what the numbers on the tangs stand for? I swear that I've yet to see the same one twice, though I'm positive there are plenty of each number out there. I tried to find out quickly on here and the general internet to no avail. The two guesses I've come up with are:
1) Some sort of batch number, so lower numbers mean older razors.
2) An ID number for the shop and/or craftsman who made the specific blade.
I think it would be really cool if you could use the number of the tang to find out a little bit more history of your particular blade(s).

There have been many theories posted on the SRP forums as to what the number stands for. I tend to believe that the number stands for the model number, as I have seen several photos of '300's from DOVO (different sizes, but the same shape and scales). The question in my mind, is "what rhyme or reason did the manufacturers use to number the models?"
