Lots of great pics in this thread!
I just snagged this, hasn't even been mailed yet. Looking forward to the shave.
Now, that is a nice looking razor. What do you know of the Maker?
Nothing yet. I'll have to do some research after the razor arrives. There does not appear to be a country or city on the razor. All the inscriptions are French, (Lotus fabrication d'art") as is the script on the box. There may be some clues on the box. Who knows, it may turn out not be be French. I purchased her from a fellow in Luxembourg that I've traded with previously.
A quick Google search turns up a few on the French ebay site.
From a French straight razor forum regarding a question about the same model. The OP though it was a Le Grelot because it came in a Le Grelot box:
"In my little opinion, is a small French manufacturer paumée between Thiers, Sens and St Etienne." Translation via Google.
His Majesty has been in my rotation for a while. He has done pretty well as a shaver. I think he would benefit from my new coticule. I haven't cleaned it too aggresively for fear of losing the design.
I also have been thinking he needs some new robes (scales) and am considering sending him off for a restore.
Thanks for the photo! Very nice-looking razor. What are you thinking of for scale materials?
I was thinking of a layered blue and light blue micarta.
That would definitely work. Same shape as the current scales?
I think so.

C'est Magnifique.
Don't you love internet translators ? I can mis-spell in 400 languages now!
Thanks! It is a beautiful shaver, too.
Le Talisman = Awsome
If you ever decide to sell let me know, seriously!
The really amazing thing about this Le Talisman is that when I bought it it required no restoration, no cleaning and not even any honing! I got it NOS from a seller on eBay.fr, and all it needed was a wash, a couple of passes on the pasted strops, and then a good stropping, and it has given me invariably awesome shaves ever since. Every now and then you stumble across a perfect pearl on eBay! :) If I find any more, I will definitely pass them along.

Another beautifull French Thiers-Issard 69 Medaille Argi

Beautiful! I had one of those, and she shaved very nicely. Congratulations! Fyi ~ I think it is "Medaille Argt." The "Argt." is short for "Argent" or "silver".
It looks like you are building a very nice collection of French straights.
Thank you. May be you are right, unfortunately my French ended with the ability to order beer  Deux presión s'il vous plaît :beer1:

Well here's my entry into French shavers.
Some months ago i bought a Le Grelot razor with a broken blade because the faux tortoise scales looked beautiful, just needed some cleaning. Put them into one of my zillion boxes in my garage, waiting for the better day to come and almost forgot them.
Few weeks ago i spent some time in Tartu Estonia and saw surprisingly in the antique store several Russian, 1 Crown & Sword and Le Grelot razor with a beautiful blade and typical black scales. With 60 krones (4 Euros) Le Grelot became mine. I didn't have to think it for too long time.
Had to clean the blade and remove some pittings. Rescaled with those faux tortoise scales i already had and here's the result. Still needs to get sharpened.
Sorry for the picture quality. I know my skills with camera needs much improvement.
My first and (so far) only Grelot: 6/8" 1/4 Grind
Stefan,
In this morning's shave I used the LG just like yours. :)
Just sent payment off for an SRP LE to a member on here (the one in the classifieds)
No idea what to expect shave-wise. I don't want to expect everything (suppose you pay for the name in a way)
Anyway just thought I'd poke my head in and say hi as a future owner.
Now officially a TI owner - got it the other day.
Feels a lot different to my Kropp - feels a lot smaller in my hands, and a lot thinner in the tang - almost dainty. Nice and sharp though - a nice shaver.
i got this ti stainless razor. i had never heard or seen of one until now. does anyone know anything about it or other ti stainless razors.
Here is my contrabution. I've not seen one like it on here so maybe somebody can give me some info It. I bought this razor sometime ago. on the tang there is a crown the word Thiers-Iss and under that is the word made. On the blade it says our Unrivalled Hollow Ground Fully Warranted and a picture of a Buffallo. It shaves really nice. and I was told it is a Thiers-Issard.
Slamthunderide a razor with the etching yours has on it is just referred to as "buffalo razor". that is all i know about your particular razor. sorry i can't give you some more useful information.
Charriere A Paris

This one has been driving around the country for the past month but I'm told it's going to be here any day :)
6/8 Historical "Sans Marque" without etching
"This classic 6/8 doesn't need any etching because of its wounderfully worked back. It is a classic. A very nice mirror polish doesn't need more. The beautiful bone scales are a perfect match for this blade.
The razor has a 1/4 to half hollow grind and is very suitable for even thick beards."

6/8 Festonné Decorated Back
"A very beautiful 6/8 razor with a decorated back and an inverted square point. The lower shank has a thumb rest. Very fine hollow ground (1/1), mirror polish and our exclusive etching "Fox and Rooster" and marvelous snakewood scales (Amourette).
This razors comes shave ready in a genuine leather pouch in a Thiers Issard carton.
The ideal gift for lovers and collectors of historical razors and for strong beards. (Light beards can be shaven with it too!)"
