I just snagged this, hasn't even been mailed yet. Looking forward to the shave.
Now, that is a nice looking razor. What do you know of the Maker?
Nothing yet. I'll have to do some research after the razor arrives. There does not appear to be a country or city on the razor. All the inscriptions are French, (Lotus fabrication d'art") as is the script on the box. There may be some clues on the box. Who knows, it may turn out not be be French. I purchased her from a fellow in Luxembourg that I've traded with previously.
A quick Google search turns up a few on the French ebay site.
From a French straight razor forum regarding a question about the same model. The OP though it was a Le Grelot because it came in a Le Grelot box:
"In my little opinion, is a small French manufacturer paumée between Thiers, Sens and St Etienne." Translation via Google.
His Majesty has been in my rotation for a while. He has done pretty well as a shaver. I think he would benefit from my new coticule. I haven't cleaned it too aggresively for fear of losing the design.
I also have been thinking he needs some new robes (scales) and am considering sending him off for a restore.
Thanks for the photo! Very nice-looking razor. What are you thinking of for scale materials?
I was thinking of a layered blue and light blue micarta.
That would definitely work. Same shape as the current scales?
I think so.
