I picked up a 3/4" Model 1631 at a local fleamarket the other day. Plain Jane Razor with black Scales & a white wedge. No added incriptions other than Robinsen Cutlery, Rochester NY & number 1631 on the back side. There is a small cold shut in the tang that is kind of interesting. Pics to follow when I get my camera back & this Puter gets replaced. The Puter is around 8 or 9 years old & has been dying a slow death. Hope the new one get's here today!
Got thinking this may have been a Barbers model. Would love to see a Robenson catalog!

I love the Robesons, and continue to find that they hone up beautifully and become great shavers. I also enjoy their attempt at marketing, the "Razor that fits your face" idea. I have one Robeson that I haven't seen mentioned here, though I easily could have missed it. This one is a double-hollow and is etched on the blade with "New Science Concave."

    Here's a pic of my 1573.
It may have a bit of wear, but I still love it!

Thanks. I think it is. Got it off the bay. The gut said it was "shaving sharp", & he was right. It does have some hone wear. But it's my 1st & shaves like a dream.

My newest Robeson arrived today! A "New Science Concave" # 1560.
In the end it will be okay.
If it's not okay, it's not the end.

I thought it was pretty cool. And the guys on here say they are good as shavers, so, there it is. I am thinking I want to "restore" the blade etching. After searching on here, it's a toss up between using ferric oxide (fecl3) or gun bluing. I really like the way the ferric oxide marks. But I could certainly use advice. Also thinking I may want to redo the scale engraving with some silver ink (period correct?) but not sure about the longevity of it. Input from the forum is always appreciated.
In the end it will be okay.
If it's not okay, it's not the end.
