Yeah that's really close to the one I have, almost exact. Nice looking razor. Much better scales on yours! So, do you think it's still worth fixing up the one I showed earlier even though we may not be able to say for sure who made it?
Absolutely. These were the first type framebacks produced. I have not seen many of this type. I have not done anything with mine but I think they will take great edges. Yours may well be a Barber. Let me research it. Even if its not, its a well made razor and one of the earlier examples of a frameback.
John Barber died in 1834. His sons continued his business as John Barber and sons. Perhaps they produced this razor with their trade mark and not the name John Barber. I will keep looking. :beer1:
OK, here it is with new scales. I was able to get a good shave, too - my very first frameback shave. I posted a little about the process in the Workshop here

Thanks Hacker and Engine for the info and encouragement...

Wow nice job. What a difference. Great work you should take pride when shaving with her.👍

I have an interesting razor, made by I.Barber, with a "fouled Anchor" on one side of the tang, and the I.Barber stamp on the other. Having said that, I can't remember if there is any connection to John Barber.

For some reason off the top of my head IIRC I was sometimes used for J. So maybe, others would know. Nice razor anyway.
Xiaotuzi if you go to advanced search and type in john Barber there is a post called "8 days a week(for framebacks)" there is a picture of your razor I think in the first or 2nd post. It has John Barber stamped on the spine. Take a look.:chapeau
