You might be the only one. Nice razor. Any chance you have a close-up of the writing on it?
I am a Morley fan... That's a nice Morley... love the scales. Thanks for starting this thread.`

I'll join the club with this one.
Too bad I clumsy and broke the scales when unpinning it for polishing, bakelite is fragile! Well, that's what happens when you're green...Hopefully I've learned my lesson:nono:....!
On the bright side, now I have to make new, custom scales for it!!:rofl2:
Haven't test-shaved it yet, but longing for it!!:w
Best regards
Clas
You know, if you don't mind this suggestion... we could call this club The 4LeafClovers... after all, four leaf clovers are very desirable, rare and is the brand motif.
Hope be granted entry into this prestigious Lucky Clover Club. This Morley girl is one fabulous shaver and her see-through dress makes her even more appealing.
Well, since Clover normally has 3 leafs and the fourth leaf isn't normal, I'd say "Lucky Clovers" says it all.
Thats just my 2 cents, though, maybe we ought to have a meeting and vote about it!!!:rofl2:
By the way Smythe, lovely scales! As a matter of fact, I have decided to "borrow" the idea of using polycarbonate for scales, but I think I will use smoke-colored instead!
Best regards
Clas
Thanks for the compliment Clas, I don’t know how experienced you are at scale-making, but you may read this thread for a few tips of how I made them.
I cannot find Polycarbonate in any other color but transparent (though I am told it can be had in Bronze, I am unable to find a reliable source). Acrylic on the other hand can be had in all the colors of the rainbow, but the two are quite different.
In my experience, Poly is flexible, tough and quite durable. Acrylic is harder, less flexible and almost as brittle as those original scales found on the Morley.
If you find a source for colored polycarbonate please let me know, I would really appreciate it.
Best.
C.S.
I have worked with smoke colored pc sheets, used to use them as protection on automatic assembly lines and maybe there is on my new work, will check it out tomorrow.
I know there is clear pc, but, if I'm lucky, there will also be smokecolored.
I'll be happy to send you some if there is, I'll stay in touch.
BTW, sorry for highjacking the thread....:HJ

A pic of the new dressed clover!!

WOW!!!... Now that's a peach, those scales come out looking sweeeet.
Love how the tool marks accent the smooth scales. Great work man :bow.
Thanks for sharing.
My clover, a 5/8 barber's notch. Great shaver! My first usable straight actually. The picture doesn't do the blade justice, it's very clean with some very minor staining at near the notch.

Here is a picture of my "CLOVER FOUR" I won on ebay. This thing shaves like a dream! I know it's not a W.H. Morley Clover but it is a beauty and shave's like it too! Thanks for letting me post broox! The Box in the background I got from old_blades here in the classifieds! I'm sure he would gladly make one for anyone!
Rrp1501, I have barley touched the blade, just a light handpolishing with autosol, that's how i recived the razor, ain't I lucky! After all, it is a Clover brand!
Doghair, beautiful razor, will serve you well a long time!
Hi all!
I have been reading about straight razors and the art of shaving with them and been longing for one of my own for ages now.
Recently came across one at a rummage sale for under a dollar and after searching on this forum, I found there are several others who have this brand. (Clover)
Mine has the "Morley" and "Clover Brand - Germany" on one side and the word: "Conqueror" on the other. Not familiar with this and wondered if this is a certain line of razors? Did a search and came up with zip online so far.
I have some photos of it in my album and I'll try to post them in this message (If I get it right!)

I just need to hone it and get shaving! (All the soap, supplies and gear is ready to go. Can't wait!)
Such a wonderful forum and website! I never knew there were so many straight razor fans out there!
Thanks for posting black651 and welcome to the forums! It's nice to see another Minnesotan on board!!
thought I had posted my Morley's, but I guess not.....
The first three are all in need of work, and the fourth I purchased from cannonfodder .....

..good to see another Minnesotan!!
You have a nice collection of Morleys going on! (The last one sure looks great! -also, the second one has some intricate scales - very nice!)
Got a few razors from an auction pack recently, and included was a gorgeous Morley. W.H. Morley & Sons "Trade Mark." The etching says "Trade Mark" with the clover icon in the middle.

Needs to be honed so I haven't had a chance to use it yet. Can't wait, though.
My entry into the Lucky Clovers. This truly was like finding a 4-leaf clover. This was my first razor, found it at an estate sale, purchased for 1 dollar, it is one of my top 2 shavers. I haven't decided whether I like my large W&B or this one better. Anyway I like my Morley. :)
Now, for 1$ that must be in some way illegal! Waaay too cheap for a razor of that magnitude.
Nice find, man, enjoy it!!
here are my 2 and i hope they are just a beginning

Morley Queen Cutter. Amazing shaver, but she needs new clothes.
I haven't done anything to her yet, just found her at a gun show today. I kind of like her how she is.

My first clover finally arrived! Will use it for the first time this weekend. Have a bowling tourney and hopefully it'll bring the luck of the clover :)
I bought one a few weeks ago and just got around to sending it off for a honing. It'll be here on Wednesday and I'll post a few pics then.
Just picked up a Clover. I honestly bought it for the scales. They are tacky as hell but something in them spoke to me. I think mostly because 80-90 years ago these would have been Risque as all hell
Going to see about getting the blade out and polished without damage to the lovely lady

Those scales are amazing. I'd love TP know how they looked fully painted. I'd also like to know how the original owner tried explaining to his proper Victorian wife that the scales are art and nothing dirty :D.
I think that was part of the appeal for me. I envisioned it sitting in some mens club at the turn of the century with whiskey and women of ill repute
For sure. I wish men's clubs of that ilk were still around. Go, smoke your pipe, have a drink and some conversation and forget about work/home for a few hours... those were fine times, my friend.
bill i a certain we could probably figure out a way to start one again, lol, but the elks, eagles, moose, legion, and vfw, just might get all ****ed off when there male members quit showing up
Here's last year's Xmas present... My brother found her in mint condition and she shaves like a dream.
