    Default Giesen and Forsthoff

I just ordered a vintage G&T on eBay that is in good condition with a 5/8" round tip and is extra hollow, and was wondering if it would be any good after having it honed. This will be my first "real" straight razor as I have been using a dovo shavette for a couple of months and feel ready to move up.

Vintage ones are great when in good condition.
I have heard of issues with the new ones, however.

Tom is correct. The condition is everything and as long as it is in good shape and well honed it will be a great razor.

I have a vintage one that when I got it at a local auction I picked it up & didn't realize the hinge pin was loose & it about cut my thumb off. It had come from a Barber shop in Monticello IL that closed during WW-2 when the Barber was drafted. Great razor!
