Ladies and gentlemen:
I ordered the 6/8" spike Revisor. It arrived within a week. After examining it thoroughly, the razor was in perfect shape. Everything was where it was supposed to be, and the fittings tight. I had also asked Herr Kronenberg to mute the tip. He did.
This morning I gave it a second stropping of 50/100 strokes (I already had given it a 50/100 stropping yesterday). Not sure it was shave-ready, as I have discovered almost all factory edges are not, especially with my heavy beard, I had another razor standing by already stropped just in case.
I used an Edwin Jagger soap with a tiny squeeze of Pre de Province cream, John Allan's Slick Water pre-shave, and an Edwin Jagger 22 mm. super badger brush.
Well, now, my Revisor was sweet as Cleopatra's lips. Oh, yes. Three passes and no dulling whatsoever. The balance was perfect for my hands, too. Alum block after the shave, a nice aloe vera balm and a touch of Taylor of Old Bond Street No. 74 Victoria Lime, and I was smiling and making eyes at her Royal Highness.
I am delighted with my Revisor 6/8" spike as I am the service and care I received from Thomas Kronenberg and Revisor. Thumbs up all the way. You have my recommendation on the razor and Herr Kronenberg's crew.
Regards,
Obie
good day from athens beberlin i read all you treads and reviews an i would like to ask you about the quality of revisor the sharpness of them compared to thiers issard an compared to old sheffield wacker also if it is possible i would like your knowledge for the wackewr best tradition in terms of sharpness compared to old sheffield wacker also can i trust new revisors in terms of quality and if their meisters are well skilled in order to succesfully forge a straight razor just like mr karl wacker?
Καλημέρα, Petros,
Sharpness comes with whoever hones them. As far as edge retention is concerned, I could see no difference between the only TI I had for more than a month (the 1/4 hollow 6/8 Grelot with thumbnotch), the Wacker OS, and the Revisoren I own. The Extra is now 10 shaves in, and still has the edge Lynn put onto it.
As I said in my reviews, I would buy another Revisor any time. I would also buy another Wacker any time.
Happy shopping,
Robin
