Very nice,thx for posting.
I really like that GENS logo on the scales! Very cool blade. Even the 14's don't come shave ready from the factory. I've had numerous 14's by now and always took them for a few laps on a water coticule. That brings out the edge on these blades beautifully.
May she serve you well!
@ jackslimpson: thanks for sharing that beautiful Gens with us! It's the first time I see a Gens # 14.
For a Solingen blade it has quite extroverted gold etching and it also has a three pin which isn't very common. Very nice razor indeed.
Kindest regards, Jazor.
Found this one a few weeks back. I wonder if any one has info on this one, I have not found anything sofar.
W.J.Lauwers Amsterdam, Iwonder who made the blade.

I coticulized it and its a very fine shaver.
kindest regards, Anthony
A quick scan through some old Dutch newspapers only reveals an Optician called W.J. Lauwers from Amsterdam, who also sold binoculars, pince-nez and barometers. Haven't found any add that specifically stated razors though. Nice razor!
Hi Anthony: wow, that's a nice one. You seem to score a lot of fine blades which tells me you have very good taste!
This is the first time I see a "Dutch" # 14.
What happened sometimes (perhaps also with the Candidius you shared with us in the other topic) is that a large buyer (pharmacy, metal shop, knife / scissors shop) would have an OEM (perhaps a Solingen straight producer in this case) do private branding for a large enough batch.
Just did a brief look around on the internet and when punching in W.J. Lauwers Amsterdam found some old black and white pictures of shops in Amsterdam.
What's the size?
Kindest regards, Jazor.
The Blanket of the Amsterdam Razor was made for Bauermann & Söhne as the Dwarf shows, maybe Lauwers was only a seller (what doesnt mean that the Razors wouldnt be goo, its a wonderful and rare piece of Dutch shaving culture, i must confess, im a bit jelaous :-)).
Had it been listed that the 14 also had been sold under Kabrand, AEVOS (Eugenio Hoppe, also Frogking), Platypus & LeGrelot Brand?
thanks Jazor, Sashami and Rockabillyhelge for your research and feedback.
It's good to know where it originated from.
Measurements: 22.8 mm and a spine with an even 6.45 width (gives a lovely 17 degree bevelangle)
it had some microchips and a few black spots on the bevel but I didn't have to remove much,
all in all it was a very lucky buy for 7 euro, I got it cheap because the handle was broken.
kind regards,
Anthony
Got a nice 7/8"+ Ch Monternier et Fils No. 14 'Verdun' today at the Bay, does someone know something about this Razor?
