Couldn't resist this beauty, have a razor sock already labeled and a place waiting for it in the shave chest.

Very nice Phrank.
Beautiful razor
Phrank:
Very nice, I'm particularly fond of the shank & notch. Is it any different holding it with the shank tapered like that?
Sure is, I posted the restored blade here...more fine work from Valery at the GD...

edited to add: and Valery mentioned that it sat very well in the hand when he test shaved with it, said it felt great and the steel was very smooth.
That's beautiful Andrew! You do have me in your will right?:w
Got this a few weeks ago. Best Silver Steel, Handforged.
It took a killer edge and has been at the top of my rotation since.
6/8's almost a true wedge.
Does anyone know more about the 'Handforged' stamp, i.e. if one can assume that this was really handforged, maybe by one person - or was it more like a sales thing?
Can anyone date this more closely btw?

Kind regards
Beautiful Joseph Elliot, "Diamond Edge" arrived, in stellar condition, patina is spectacular on this one.
Going to get a cleaning with toothbrush and that's it, then onto the hones...

I have gotten the faked patina fairly well in hand, but I just cannot make horn scales look old, and honestly with the whole package looking old it looks like mismatched shoes. I know some are into that sort of thing, but that old blade, with the patina that only comes with years and years of caring, along with the beautifully aged scales is a masterpiece.
Noooooo, it is likely original. And having the patina times two, blade and scales, is a masterful find. It is really hard to get that kind of variegation without it being natural.
Thanks Shaun, was thinking, for once I'm thinking, not going to do anything with this razor other than give it a cleaning, not make it shinier than a diamond in a goats azzz, or add some beautiful new horn scales, and you had me thinking the patina was added...not sure if those scales are original though....they don't look like horn?
That's a gorgeous old blade Andrew!
Nice call to do little more than sanitize and such. No rust, just age and time on that blade.
Nice Boker in the featured SOTD as well my good man.
:chapeau
Well you have it in hand so you have the advantage. I thought they looked like grainy old black horn. I wish I could figure out how to raise the grain like that. I tried soaking them in vinegar and them hitting them with a stiff nylon brush, but no dice. It works well on wood though.
Nice, Phrank!
I think I have some Elliotts! Great razors! :D
Jog my memory with some pictures Tom

I will look.....
Very nice Phrank, some of your razors get my RAD active..........you have quite the selection. And about the same preference in styles as I do.
And great photo on the SOTD :tu
That's a nice one Phrank, you too Tom, whatever that is. Here's one I got out awhile back & I have a glass tube that isn't round, like a test tube but a razor came in it & I use it for soaking razors in neatsfoot oil, so I put this one in it & forgot about it for a couple months but it didn't hurt it. When I got it, the scales were in excellent condition, no warping or bug bites.

Phrank that's as stunning example - congrats & enjoy the heck out of that one! One of the coolest I've seen. Tom I remember seeing that one before, I remember the banana (?) in the picture, very nice indeed. And Engine, yours is magnificent and being in great shape all original is the cat's meow. I love the shape of the scales with the tapered end, almost a little pointy.
I have a couple that are still as they arrived, I think both may be all original. The one with the floret collars had a "bubble" of delamination on the front scale and someone tried to smooth it out resulting in scratches. The other has one of those wonky spines, I've heard it called a "tombstone" grind but I'm not sure if that's correct. Both could use a light cleaning and hones, I gotta get on that one of these days...

Where do razors like this come from? I have nice razors but nothing like those!
The one of mine came in a lot I bought on fleabay a few years ago. It was just dumb luck that it was included. I think it was an estate lot or something.
One for me also.

That would be it, Mike. Same blade as in post 62 here. It certainly deserved some nice scales.
Really fine shaver!
