Pending Fancy Vintage Silverteel - Full Hollow, 5/8, spine work, "Wednesday"
Attachment 254420
This is a vintage german razor from Solingen. There is no manufacturer's stamp.
It is part of an incomplete 7-day set that I picked up long ago and I've already sold the rest.
It's a very nice shaver, just too embellished for my taste.
The size is 5/8 (actual measurement is slightly over 11/16"), the grind is full hollow, doube stabilizer, the vintage quality. I'm not sure if the images show the virtually non-existent even bevel - that is what you want in a razor.
The tang has jimps on top and bottom. I am not sure how well it shows on the images, but the top ones are in fancy a sort of beveled way, not just plain across. There is filework on the spine and day of the week stamp "Wednesday" painted in gold.
The blade decoration is deep etching, again I have not seen anybody being able to do that anymore, and painted dark red and gold. It's the original paint.
I noticed on the images that there is still some leftover oil and dust, even though I tried to wipe it off well.
The scales are, again, the original cream plastic with brown wedge with Solingen on them. The front scale has bowed out - it hasn't changed for at least 5 years, may be longer (I don't really remember when I got them).
The blade, is centered and properly tight, so this isn't a functional issue.
I think the stamps and etching are quite clear in the images, so I won't retype them here :)
It is shave ready, and if the buyer needs it I'll certainly be happy to hone it down the road when it needs it, all they have to cover is the shipping.
I am asking $125, which includes the shipping within US, for international it will be more. This is, I think, what I sold the others for back in the days, and seems like a good price given what the entry level razors cost these days and how much lesser embellishments add to it.
