6/8" 'The Australian' Ivory Tang Straight Razor Blade for Restoration

Here for sale is a very unique 6/8" razor or unknown make with an etched blade bearing the words '100 6/8 The Australian'.

The tang of this blade is clad with one solid piece of what I believe to be ivory (based upon comparisons with ivory scaled razors in my collection) which is unusual as most covered-tang razors I have seen have a metal core the full length of the monkey tail (with two slabs of material either side). If your observations lead you to a different conclusion about the material please let me know. The blade is likely of good origin considering the tang and finishing.

The manufacturer of this razor is unknown as the name was likely pressed into the tang and now worn off. I received the razor with broken black plastic scales (now removed and discarded) which were likely not original.

I began to restore this blade but no longer have the tools on hand or the time to complete it. I stabilized a hairline crack in the tang near the pivot and enhanced some of the original features such as the hollowed notch and tang groove, but beyond some preliminary cleaning it remains as received. The etch can likely be avoided and saved while bringing the other faces up to a high polish. A new set of scales will be required.
