Default Beginners 9/16 Boker 'King Cutter Square Point w/ Original Case

This is one 'Ugly' Boker but gives that notorious Boker 'Buttery Smooth' shave..........

This razor looked a lot worse when I got it and was in dire need of rescue; blade was corroded, had a chip and scales were broken. I had a spare set of scales from a previous project then spent time taking out the chip and cleaning the blade.

Blade has minimal hone wear, top jimps, some staining, plenty of pitting but none in the edge, 'King Cutter' etching on blade is faint but readable due to cleaning process. Blade centers snugly between Black celluloid scales. Case has some wear but still functional.

Bevel was set with Chosera 1k, honed with Norton 4k/8k followed by my grandfathers Norton 'Queer Creek' hone then finished on Select Coticule. Final polish was done on Chromium Oxide pasted leather paddle strop, Ferrous Oxide pasted leather paddle strop and final stropping with SRD poly web/leather strop. Razor is shave ready by my standards, yours may vary. I test shave every razor and if it doesn't give a smooth irritation free shave it goes back to the hones.

Price is $45 shipped CONUS via USPS with tracking, for International shipping please email or PM location for shipping cost.

Money back guarantee if not satisfied.

    DB,

That looks like it would be a pretty nice first SR, where was the chip on the blade? and does the cutting edge smile a little bit?

I didn't have much hope with this one when I first received it but was able to save it, I just wish the pitting would have cleaned up better. If I had gone any further on cleaning the pitting the etching would have been lost.

It was a 1/16 inch chip close to the heel and yes it does have a bit of a smile now due to removing the chip. It was either make the blade smile or have the heel narrower than the toe which would look weird but I've seen them like that. To me a smile looks better..........

Well, it appears I'm not going to have any luck selling this one so I'm closing the listing and going to dedicate this razor as my 'Ugly Duckling'. The other day I read a thread about folks ugly razor and someone made the comment "Every body has an Ugly Duckling" in there collection and I realized I didn't have one. Well, now I do and proud of it!
