Manufactured 1886-1900. Back of blade straight with round point and no shoulder. Comes with 3 interchangeable blades. Blade measures approximately 3 X 6/8. On blade "U.S.A. PATENT JANUARY 2, 99 - MADE IN FRANCE". On one side of shank "SOLE U.S. AGENT JAMES FLAGG", on other side "MADE IN FRANCE". Interchangeable blades look like Damascus steel. Frame has long Monkey Tail tang. In Original blade wrapping is instructions on how to change blades. Frame cleaned, and polished. All 3 blades cleaned, polished and honed shave ready. Black celluloid scales cleaned and polished. New nickel silver pins and washers. Tip of scale at pivot end rebuilt with Podauk wood dust and superglue. Comes with original box. On one side "No Stropping "No Honing" Buying Extra Blades or Strop & Home like other Razors saving expense - Use "Shavers Delight" to keep any razor in good order -- For The 3 Blade $3.00 Net -- Red, White & Blue flag with words "OUR AIM QUALITY FLAGG CUTLERY" on the other side "The Razor "Forever" - Patented and copyrighted - Three Superb Quality Blades - MANUFACTURED BY - FLAGG CUTLERY CO. Found one in Attleboro, MA 1916-2006 & G.A.Pittitt Folsom Eagle Creek 1872-1949.

Light coat of oil for protection on blade. Please look at photos as they are best description.

Honing: One layer of electrical tape on spine. Bevel set on 600 grit diamond hone. Then 6000 water stone and finished on 12,000 oil stone, 20,000 Jasper. Then stropped on canvas with diamond paste and then leather and disinfected. A $18.00 VALUE FREE.

I personally test shave each razor before final disinfection. Shave ready is different to each person. Factors like light or coarse beard or beard length come into play. I have a heavy beard and test shave every razor on a two day growth. If razor gives a close comfortable shave I call it shave ready. If it does not shave right I re-hone the razor.

Hey, Nice razor! I have one of these but with only 2 blades.

You might be interested in some trivia about it, I looked for the patent on January 2nd, 1899 - there aren’t any, it was a Monday so the patent office was of course closed as new year’s day fell on a Sunday!

Thanks. Was going by what is marked on blades. This was advertised with only 2 blades. I shined a flashlight into the box and third blade was tucked all the way down.

No, no third blade, but the way the wax paper insert is folded, it could have held 2. Mine are bright so I suspect that they’ve been polished.

These are pretty nice travel razors, two (or three!) razors in the space of one, and the lever lock means that you can’t lose that tiny set screw that most of them use to hold the blades in place, and no screwdriver needed.

I’m tempted but don’t use the razor that much; it’s one of the more unusual ‘lame rechange’ razors. I did some research back when I got mine and seem to remember Leresche making one like these.

I don’t think that they are, it’s probably just the wide-ish lens on the cell phone. It handles like a 5/8 or 11/16, though I do not think that there is any consensus on how to measure a frameback like there is ‘regular’ razors.

I've never touched a frameback. How's the shave?

I have 3 framebacks in my personal rotation. Marsh Brothers, Gilchrist and Torrey. All shave close and smooth. The FLAGG shaved just as well. I hope it almost flat to the face for the best results.
