Darn...really nice DD Goldedge, found it with 8 hours left....$50!!!!
Used the auto-bid for up to $60, and got smoked in the last 3 seconds!!
That hurt - feel sad, humiliated, and upset that I didn't get a new toy! '-)

That's the way of the bay. I often find that. I believe that people have some kind of sniper programs that do that. I usually don't bid until the very last. If you bid in advance at what you think is a reasonable amount it will always sell for more.
It's tough when that happens, getting sniped at the last moment.
We've all been there, and one day another DD Goldedge will come up
at the right price and you will out-snipe the sniper :y !!
Bongo
Put a watch on the item, eBay will tell you 10 mins before the auction ends, I bid on an item 10 seconds before the end, got out bid with 3 seconds to go, didn't manage to rebid.
Don't worry about it, it probably had cell rot, a pitted edge, cracks you couldn't see and a frown.
Thanks guys...yes, for some reason woke up really early, made a coffee and thought I'd check the Bay...thought it was destiny!
But, turns out my destiny was a different path! The DD was really nice, I almost expected it to be de-listed at the last moment!
Oh well, one day we'll all find the DD Lifetime Grim Reaper, in NOS condition, shipped for free, shave ready, for under $100!!
But in my case, my credit card would probably be refused!! :gaah:
Cheers!
Guess I just learned a lesson in mocking destiny.
Just went and checked the mail?
I just got selected for JURY DUTY!!!!!!
Argggggghhh!!!!
:banghead:
Just remember that after the icing there are still ornaments and candles....
I always bid in the last seconds. I have found if I want it that's what I have to do. What cracks me up is 2 guys in a 50 cent bid war for 5 days over something I know is going to sell for double in the last minute. All they are doing is raising the price. I haven't bought anything for awhile but if I want something I can usually get it. Why? Because I bid tooooo high for wants.
:overkill:
Oh, and by the way, if there is something that I really want I put in a ridiculous max bid and sit back and watch the flurry of screen jitters as it runs thru all the last second bidders with an ending green banner of victory.
Thanks! I've been thinking that's the way to go, but I'll do that in the last minute...
Speaking of which, there's a nice, pristine DD Grim Reaper on E-Bay right now for around $400...couldn't believe it...still has several days left to go. Then I re-read the description and the scales have been replaced and the "e" in lifetime is not there.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but once the scales have been replaced, doesn't it lose it value?
And 10Pups, be warned, at the next possible chance, I'm going to use that smiley...awesome!!
I would generally expect something repaired to be cheaper than something original, if everyone reads thr description, and knows what it should be worth. Ultimately anything is "worth" what someone will pay for it.
"And 10Pups, be warned, at the next possible chance, I'm going to use that smiley...awesome!!"
I just did to see if it still works... Dang it does. New Goldedge on it's way and well under my usual big guns ammo. Pffff even comes with a strop this time. Sorry if you were looking at that 1 anybody, but it was 7/8 and I didn't have 1 of those.
"Correct me if I'm wrong, but once the scales have been replaced, doesn't it lose it value?"
Not really, in my opinion, maybe in someone else's. Each razor is different and what it's worth is up to who ever wants it.
I think this one is from one of our friends in here. And this is the way it works for me. I can't afford that much now so it's there tempting me.
It looks like a great restore job :<0)
Ahhh, snipers...the only real way to beat 'em is to join 'em. Those programs don't submit their bids until typically 5-10 seconds before bidding ends. Give the live bid no time to respond. Been burned more times than I can count by them.
If you want something, wait until less than 30 seconds and bid what it is worth to you, not a bargain price, but what you are willing to pay. You also need to be willing to lose something if the price goes nuts. When people bid throughout the process the price goes way up, so don't add gas to the fire.
Also look to see if the item can be returned if unsatisfactory because the pictures are all you have and they can't tell the whole story.
