Nice razor but valuations are against forum rules.

I had no idea. But I just want to make sure I'm not getting ripped off any way anyone can tell me in a PM or something
I don't think it is a real problem, happens enough to be a common thing. Yea, using a PM is the way to go.
Bob
I saw what you payed for the razor on Ebay, and all I will say is you have a fine razor and you payed enough for the razor but you wouldn't want to pay anymore.
It's a really good razor? I saw it and something really appealed to me. The background of beau brummel too. It's a really nice looking razor. Hope it performs well
Yes, its a top notch razor.
I didn't see the auction, but I recognise the box - handiwork of Smythe if I am not mistaken...
Regards,
Neil
I know the box is not original. It isnt even of the same time frame as the razor by a country mile.
It is a dead-ringer for one of the boxes made by someone who used to post here a lot. He made a picture tutorial of how he makes them, from that lavender paper over card stocck.
Geezer would probably know his name, but I am pretty sure it was Cedric Smythe.
Regards,
Neil
Any idea of the year this might of been produced?
I don't think you will be happy with the razor but you will come to love the box.
You smart ass!! I'm a newbie I was just looking for some help....
I know this is a big window but I'll say between 1930 to 1952.
That is obviously the time window, being the dates of operation of the two related companies that owned the brand, Bresduck (1939-47), which became part of Pearlduck til 1952. The earlier, original razors were made at the Brummel Werk factory in Solingen and distributed in the US by Bresnick and others. When taken over by Pearlduck the "Brummel-werk" id was left off, which will tell you the age within a slightly smaller time frame.
Regards,
Neil
PS: the more I see that box, the more I love it... :)
Did I hear someone calling for me???
Yes, and the Pearlduck beau's will have the address of Pearlduck in Jamaica, N.Y right on the razor.
Cedrick Smythe's handiwork for sure. The box would be handmade by Cedrick himself.
This could be considered slightly off topic but I definitely can see an excellent children's book titled: Cedrick Smythe Makes A Box.
Something to lure the tots away from their electronic worlds.
Nice buy! That razor should take on a beautiful edge and be excellent shaver. It is quite possible that it may already have a great factory edge out of the box. I love that Bauhaus style beau brummel logo.
