That's a decent analogy, but razors, like guitars, still come down to individual preference. Fender, Gibson, PRS, etc. translate to Dovo, TI, Revisor, etc.
Also, much like guitars, you have cheapies... First Act would be more like any Pakistan razor, Epiphone would be like Gold Dollar and so on. Then, you have vintage razors to consider... a DublDuck Satinedge or Wade & Butcher "For Barber's Use" might equate to a '59 Gibson Les Paul.
If a brand of razor has a good reputation, it usually is for a reason, just as it is with guitars.
Ultimately, you'll just need to pick up one, plug it in (strop it up) and see what kind of music you can make.
