Pirate Razor
Found this at an antique show yesterday. Since it is made in NY I thought it was worth buying but I can't find any information on Carrier Cutlery. Anyone seen this razor or know anything about the maker? The blade is blued except for an area along the bevel. It has been used little if at all. Details on the scales do not show well in the photo but it is an interesting fish scale motif. There are no markings on the back side of the blade.

Interesting razor, Cronk & Carrier Mfg Co = Carrier Cutlery Elmira New York, 1900- 1921. Company moved to Montour NY 1921- 1928.

Interesting. In about 10 years of gathering, trading, buying, and selling pocket knives, I've NEVER seen one of those. Production numbers must have been fairly low compared to most of that era.

What a cool razor! Very nice find, and obviously no relation to the "Bluebeard's Revenge" modern line. Definitely a honey!

I was going to hone this up and put it in my rotation but now I am having second thoughts. How would I go about finding out if this has any real collectors value? If it is a collectors item would shaving with it reduce the value, it is not pristine? Originally Posted by Wullie

Its collectors value is probably about as high as its going to be right now. It is in great shape, but its does not appear to be "New"
As a used item, it remains a used item. If you use it to shave with tomorrow it will not change its value any. Of course, in 10 years, hone wear and sink dings, and any other damage you do it, will change that!
