Yes, an 8/8 Le Grelot would be very interesting to see...some pics would be great.
Is this a vintage piece, or a more recent one, made since Thiers-Issard took over the brand ? I don't recall seeing a Le Grelot with that large a blade but I don't see any reason to assume they didn't make them. As long as the stamping in the tang is proper, and perhaps if the scales are also marked with a logo, all the better. By all means we need to see a photo at least before we can draw any conclusion.
here the pictures!!!

the seller assured me, more than once, that the width of the blade is 24mm
Looks like the real McCoy to me. Congrats and enjoy the shave.
Beautiful, very beautiful.
24mm is the normal size for a french 7/8, that's because of french "grandeur":nj
+1 for Jimmy's comments! Pierre Hospital and Cie registered the trademark Nostradamus in 1964, that is not a very common razor for sure.

Wow - that's a beauty. Great find!
i don't know this...so it's a 7/8..not good news for me because i has spent like a filarmonica for le grelot because i guess that is a 8/8, This does not mean that it is not a good blade ... indeed :D
waoo martin where you have find this pictures!!?!?!!fantsatic!!!! :D :D
my TI that I got is stamped 5/8 but it is only the hone area blade edge to spine contact, not to the back of the spine and it is 6/8 overall.
so at 24mm 7/8 this could be the same plus the 1/8 for the spine so 8/8 overall as I (and most others) would measure it maybe
what a beautiful score, either way I love it
25.4mm = 1 inch exactly, so its a bit short of 8/8.
Saved all their registration when i wrote a thread about the history of Pierre Hospital, Le Grelot.

Yeah, 24mm is a 7/8 razor and most razors run a little larger if you count the spine to the total width.
Here's the 357 model that I once had (too large for my preferences). I should have somewhere a picture with ruler to see the exact width, but I couldn't find it quickly now: Le Grelot "357" 7/8 - Straight Razor Place Library
Something about the scales tells me they're not the original ones.
Definitely in the hundreds of models, could even be in the thousands. It was one of the two largest razor manufacturers in France and from what I've seen they didn't see any value in limiting the brands and models.
I was tracking this one, very cool, but lost me past $150 or so. Nice razor.
Very nice, I know a French ebay seller who has sells some beautiful Le Grelot razors.
That is a gorgeous razor.
What a gem.
